Since last august, deviantart has gone full tumblr and has been caught banning A LOT of people on it recently (far more people than you think)
from 2000 to 2023,90% of the website's history is being erased

Examples of banned people:
Karbofelarya(2005-2023)
AlloyRabbit (2009-2023)
Shydude
gomyugomyu
and much more…
if a account isn't banned then 50% of it's gallery is deleted instead.
90% of the website's history, from 2000 to 2023, was blown away into dust,
leaving only the poorly drawn "the loud house" stuff.

If you want a witness to learn more about the purge go talk with Karbofelarya

Good

Now the days of having to dig through hills of foot fetish images just to find some sort of fanart will stop being a thing. If only they could do the exact same thing with AI art, now that would make me very happy.

Now DeviantArt will go from being called "The shitty art site known for fetish art" to "The shitty art site previously known for fetish art"

I've hated them since they forced the new layout. Hopefully artists can find a better place to post their work

Given my time around here, I’ll just assume that the following post on this thread would treat this as a good thing. To me, this is not a normal response to celebrate. The problem about making a big exile of a particular content or group really is that it doesn’t remove those people on the internet. It’ll most likely remove countless amount of posts that could consider to be staple of internet history and to an extent part of internet/meme culture that will be lost. But the bigger problem is that it just causes these people to just migrate into another art site and will just cause a whole new problem for that community (just like the Tumblr ban).

While that make Deviantart look better by outsiders, it’ll just make the rest of the internet worse in the future. Sure, I don’t like Deviantart because of the absurd fetishizations that can fit into the lowest tier in an iceberg video. But that’s what Deviantart is. Hell, the ‘Deviant’ part of the site is basically a give away.

One thing I would say, and again, that I really wish people would just go back into making their own personal websites, fansites, and what-nots on the internet. Because having to deal with making a name for yourself while having to deal with the uncertainty of the social media site that would just screw everyone over just so they could appease to the creditors and their source of income.

Cutting ties to countless of users. User that build an identity of said website for them (for better and for worse). Just to throw them all under the bus. And the sad thing is, this won’t be the first, or the last time it'll happen…

What better sites are there to post art anyways? Do those sites even exist yet? What about for specific fetish art (I won't judge, and hopefully it's not too inappropriate to ask this)?

Twitter doesn't count, even before Elongated took over.

If you post furry art, there's fur affinity. But that site is not good for general use especially if you're under 18, even with sfw tags on.

There's Artstation, but I don't beleive that supports NSFW content.

Newsgrounds and Itaku have been really good alternatives so far!
I LOVE Itaku! and many artists have been posting their art there lately!

There are also Tumblr Alternative sites like Pillowfort and Cohost!
I wish artist could stop using FREAKING TWITTER (and Bluesky too) and use actually Art sites with functional sites and tag access system!

Honestly if I ever get over my Artblock, what is even the point of going back to DeviantART? Beyond trying to spread my art
The site has changed so much since my late teens days, it became WORSE in every aspect!

It lost it's spark! The UI is worse everyone hate the new UI but they forced it anyway, they removed the categories for some reason, the community flare has slowed down

Even FurAffinity MODs are full of shit, ANCIENT freaking site which refuse to update its UI for quality of life
And recently banning certain short species because they are "Child Coded" and upsetting the Shortstack community (if you ban Goblins, Gremlins and Kobolds I will go after your neck)

Despite popular belief, FurAffinity DOES allow Human art, it even has a category for humans!
You may get some weirdo furry users complaining "EHM ACTUALLY THIS IS A FURRY SITE, HUMANS ARE GROSS YUCKY" 🤓 but you can ignore them (it happened to one of my fav Bara artists)

Artstation doesn't allow NSFW, and I don't recommend it in the first place!

That site was build as Art Portfolio for artists who work in the Videogame and Animation industry

It has very high standard for art quality

I weirdly haven't seen any artists I follow talk about this, maybe there's barely any spread of the news? So far the only artist I follow who got affected is Shydude who opted to just make a new account. dA is super weird on certain art getting removed out of nowhere and never explaining why. Like I can at least understand the logic of dA having an issue with fetish art of a character whose canon age is below 18 (never mind in a lot of the source material, especially anime, a fuck ton of characters who are supposed to be "under 18" look more like college students), but other times I don't understand what the hell caused the removal of some art. Like an artist I know whom I did a trade with years ago one day noticed a Ms. Fortune piece he did for me had been inexplicably removed from his gallery and he was never told why (can't be an age thing either as Ms. Fortune's canon age is 20). He gave me the okay to re-upload the piece to my gallery (making sure to credit him of course) and so far it's been fine being on my page.

Pixiv! Seriously, if you're looking for freedom of content, it's THE place for art. Unless too much freedom worries you.

Welp. Two options from here:

-Make my own website (even if it means using free hosting servers like neocities), or

-Use sites like pixiv… or newgrounds even.

Besides, it shouldn't be surprising if deviantart finally goes under.

There is also Eka's Portal (aryion, com), which is focused on vore. Its user interface hasn't changed in 16 years, so it's rather clunky--and Eka herself is quite abrasive. It has forums, though.

Another site I remember is pregchan, which is very much in the mold of 4chan (for better or worse). It's also flagged as a security risk by Malwarebytes due to its ads.

Pixiv is pretty decent, but its strict character limits and lack of a journal function makes communication with watchers more difficult.

There are also the Discord servers, I suppose?

See, that's the thing, you can't jerk it to real chicks anymore 'cause if you do they'll just slice your dick off and drop it down the garbage disposal, THAT'S why everyone started to jerk it to pretend chicks. Now they're taking THAT away!

lol, pixiv is pretty much japanese version of deviantart but with greedy premium subscription system that charges for even the most basic features
oh you want to block more than one user? please subscribe to us!
oh you want to blacklist the "loli/shota/scat/diaper" tag? please subscribe to us!

Well I can't think of any other sites that give you as much liberty over what you can post. Having used it for years, I can't say I've ever felt like I needed to pay either. Once you start liking and bookmarking stuff, the home page's recommended section will pretty much filter itself to show you only stuff you might like based on your bookmarks, no extreme paraphilia or anything; at that point, you'd have to try to run into anything outside your comfort zone.
