Classic Old School Video Game Enemies That Scare You

I was reading another post about scary enemies, but the games were newer ones. I love classic old school games. One of the scariest enemies for me is the Pterodactyl in the game Joust. I swear, I have to turn it off when it starts screeching and trying to get my knight * whew* . Just wondering if anyone else has any experiences like that.

Not really scary, but more disturbing, Giygas.

Called it before I could. That's how terrifying it is.

Second most chilling…let me think…

Okay, this is going to sound retarded, but I used to be scared of the ghosts in Pokemon Red/Blue version. When I first played through the game, I did the Missingno. cheat and they used to look like those ghosts. Master balled it, but it went to my PC, effectively destroying everything. Few years later I read about Pokemon Black {not the new shit that just came out, the creepypasta}. Didn't help at all.

Not even joking. After figuring out it's full story and actually fighting it for the first time I never wanted to step foot in Lavender Tower again!

It wasn't an enemy but it was scary and a mindfuck, how you keep running up the stairs for like an hour, then you turn around and you're still at the bottom of the stairs. Also the creepy music.

Forgot to add this one:

Level 2 boss in Sub-Terrania for Sega Genesis. Not only was it hard to steer around this grotesque head, but even after you strip off its flesh it continues to rush at you, fireballs and everything.

Lavos. Scariest fucking thing.
Just think.
You have to change the space time continuum. Not only that, but what you are changing is the end of the world. Not only that, but you have to beat this motherfucker in order to do so. Not only that, but this thing has been around for billions of years. Oh, it also copies all of the previous bosses you fight. You can fight this guy anytime you want, but if you should just follow the storyline until you have to fight him.

Looking back, OoT was incredibly scary for an "E" rated game. I mean, re-deads are probably the scariest monster ever, that hand thing that drags you back to the beginning of the level comes out of fucking nowhere, the forest temple had that creepy music, and EVERYTHING about the shadow temple was scary!

Dangit, I know that guy; where is he from?

@thread:
Sinistar. Near 30 years later, and that audio is still creepy as hell.

Phanto from Super Mario Bros 2 (aka Yume Koujo Doki Doki Panic refitted with Super Mario characters).

It was that MF who chased you relentlessly after grabbing a key. Only way to kill it was with star power.

All of this ooT talk and nobody brings up this?

I don't know you… but these 3 levels scared me for life (well, I played DKC2 when I was a little kid…) and they still let me in suspense when I replay them.

1) Haunted Hall… Make one mistake and these ghosts will beat you.

2) Toxic Tower… I know this thread is about enemies, but heck, THE ACID IS MY BIGGEST ENEMY IN THIS GAME.

3) King Zing Sting… I really, really, REALLY hate Zingers.

I know this isn't old school, but neither is OOT or Super Mario 64. But it is classic.

I just had to include these fuckers.

There's nothing more scary than being bit by a Poison Headcrab and having a swarm of zombies and headcrabs around you.

The head of Medusa from Castlevania. The fact that it first appears as an ordinary head and then turns into this was just too terrifing for me when I was little.

Medusa heads are way more terrifying, at least in frustration terms.
anyway, this boss was a tad easy. but, nonetheless terrifying.

Back when I was a kid these freaked me out in Donkey Kong 64

They'd just be a barrel then when you approached them they'd pop out and chase you.

Now I'm scared of this

I wonder what my reaction to it would be if I was still a kid.

These bastards would come out of nowhere and scare you half to death and then send you to the front of the dungeon.

Ditto! The first time it happened I was such looking to the ceiling with the first person view.
It made me bounce backward in my seat.
