Something Awful has just published a list of the 50 Greatest Video Game Characters of All Time.

Personally, I've never heard of any of them, and they all seem fake, so this must be an inside joke on the site, or something like that. Maybe it'll be something worthy of the page, but probably not.

Are the Links from different games or all the same?

The same Links. Even though the one from OoT/MM is the best Link.

My favorite is the German soldier at the very end of the CoD: Waw Campaign, that stands up and shoots you as you try to place the flag.
