Warning, long post with a link to an article and a video. If you have anything resembling a life, FLEE NOW! Go to this instead: http://fuldans.se/?v=hocrywyhlx
I was randomly derping across the internet when I found an article at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4190699.stm which basically talks about the ultra-conservative minority of Christianity was having much butt-hurt over a video being shown in elementary schools. It even quotes Paul Batura, a member of Focus on the Family saying "We see the video as an insidious means by which the organisation is manipulating and potentially brainwashing kids"
I was curious, so I looked up the video, and found it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnD8BYjZiW0 . I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but instead of finding Spongebob making out with Patrick, I found all of my favorite television characters from when I was a kid from Disney Channel, Nick, PBS, and a few other places singing to the tune of that song about "We are Family" (I don't know the name, sorry.) I felt like crying manly tears of happiness inside for having my childhood validated.
But that's just my opinion. However, my opinion has never reliably correlated to the public opinion, so I wanted to get some perspective. What do you guys think? I just want to hear your thoughts so if you have anything to say about the article, the video, the Focus on the Family group, and/or whatever.
That's about it. Sorry about the super long post (I ramble a lot) and if this seems like an obvious troll post (it's not supposed to be, I just thought it was a good example of Poe's law.) And remember, stereotypes are bad, so try to avoid making assumptions or you'll look stupid. And if you are a real masochist, there's an extra optional paragraph of commentary for you below!
Personally, I thought this was so absurd it reminded me of when North Korea used footage from Modern Warfare 3 (which was created by 2 AMERICAN companies) to continue their propaganda campaign. I mean, everyone has the right to believe what they want, but come on, you still need to share reality with everyone else.
