I wasn't gonna bring it up because I didn't want to sound like a pretentious ass but I would probably identify myself as demisexual, actually.

But you're always a pretentious ass.

So I was pretty close, funny how I remember that.

Whoa, wait… time out! Taryn is bi? Did I do that? Never thought I'd see the day.

By the way, it's old knowledge from the old school users that I'm bi. Just throw my name up there if you care enough.

@ Markhaox14 complaining about Gender Identity.

Seriously, what's up with him/her?

@ SWFlash
Bi's are people (or animals?) that have had sexual intercourse with both sexes. Bi-curious means at the most you have performed foreplay with the same sex while having intercourse with the opposite. Gays have had intercourse (Note: this does not include foreplay) with ONLY males, and lesbians female. And then there's the peasant class, the virgin, who cannot obtain satisfaction in any way possible from the two sexes. Care for another lecture, or have you seen your error?

More to the point: Being Bi means you feel sexual attraction to both genders let alone have had intercourse with them. You love T & A & P & P

You may be more into guys than girls, or girls more than guys. But if the fact remains that you can do both, to whatever degree, then you are Bi.

It's really insulting to Bi's when people deny their sexuality and write it off as some stand-in for another sexuality. Sexuality is NOT black & white! We aren't making this shit up. It's equally as real as being Gay or Straight

I are serious poster, this is serious thread.
I can't believe you actually thought that I tried to offend someone. Wow.

Whoa! Cool your jets, peeps. If you haven't read the title of the thread, the topic is gaiety.

So, other than the obvious homosexual delineation, let's keep this thread a happy one.

Need to understand bisexuality better? BAM! Here's the Kinsey Scale.

Alright, next topic.

The first thing I thought of when you said sexuality is not black or white is gray… and then I made the connection to Fifty Shades… and then I poured bleach down my eyes…

But you're absolutely correct. There's not a single line drawn in the middle, and people having to be on either side. The Kinsey Chart that Jostin put up is a near perfect example of what sexuality is based off of. The only thing I was confused about was asexuality… how do you rate that, exactly?

I'd mention Justin Bieber but Freddie Mercury was mentioned in this thread so I guess this is a "Gay is cool" thread and not "Gay is gay" thread. So instead I'll mention Rob Halford.

Oh and if we're going to make a 'Gay is gay' thread I'll suggest Nickleback and Oh Henry bars.

Tfw you're told since you're straight you're now in the minority.

You mean both sexes, right?

You're always free to make a "ITT: Things That Are Straight" thread. No promises it'll derail and turn into one like this, though.

I think it comes from most people being slightly more attracted to one sex or another when it comes to being bi. If you're more into the opposite, they think you're just keeping appearances. If you're more into the same sex, you must just have a fetish. I know I favor one sex a bit more than the other, but I also know I have a legitimate attraction to both/all of them.

It's a hard thing to describe to someone who has never felt that way before, though. Kinda like describing purple to a person who is totally colorblind.
Purple is best color.

This is very true. I imagine that if I didn't go through middle/high school in a town with a strong LGBT community, and haven't had several friends and a sister that are bi, then I would not as easily have had a good understanding of how bisexuality works. My sister has told me about some experiences in college she has had of her friends (both straight and gay friends) thinking that there is no such thing as bisexuality or saying things like "I could never date a bisexual, I just don't trust them * realizes my sister is bi * Oh, but you're ok!". There is a huge lack of understanding between sexualities.

The same goes for the transgendered community as well. Just last night I watched a review of the Hangover Part II, which contained a scene that could be considered pretty transphobic, and caused a bit of an internet fight in the comments section about whether or not someone could actually be considered trans if they still had their original anatomy. To keep it short I would've gotten much angrier at the people making the argument that changing gender is a bad practice if I didn't realize that an opinion like that is entirely based on a lack of knowing what it feels like the be a woman trapped in a man's body or vice versa.

Oh great, now I went and made a post all serious in a fun thread X_x this is what I get for being the KYM minority.

And my dragon dildo is coming soon.

If you get shot for wearing that it's not my fault.

@Mark

The Kinsey Chart that Jostin put up is a near perfect example of what sexuality is based off of. The only thing I was confused about was asexuality… how do you rate that, exactly?

If the Kinsey scale measured asexuality, it would need an additional z axis that measured how intense one felt the sexualtiy measured on the y and x axis. Lets say that the z axis went from 1 (no attraction) to 6 (strong attraction)

So an asexual could be anywhere between 1 and 6 on the x (making them any sexuality), but they would always be a 1 on the z (meaning that they are not influenced by that sexuality no matter what it is)

That either made sense or was rambling, I'm not sure.

@optional

I’ve been gone for the weekend. What the fuck has happened?

We all turned gay

@Cale

Yes.

I know what you mean. If you are Straight-bi, people assume you are gay over a few moments you had with the same sex. If you are gay-bi, people assume you are gay over a few moments you had with the same sex

I partly blame this on how pop culture taught itself that it needs to seek out, identity and expose gays for bonus points. Which leads people to ignoring one half of a Bi's sexual preference and focus on the more controversial other half

@Liam

What about Bi-curiosity?

Often that means that you are definitely gay or straight but you just want to try out the other side just to see what it's like.

However it can also mean that your sexuality is not what you had known and can lead to discovering a true sexuality that you may not have realized before.

B-curiosity can go either direction, but you usually find out pretty quick what your real sexuality is.

Don't feel bad. This thread was doomed to turn into serious discussion.

That's how we roll here at KYM

Yes, and you apparently missed a few, huh? I'll get it.

I was going to get all over you on this, but I think others covered it. Even virgins have sexual orientation, which of course can be bisexual.

@thread:

Gratuitous link to Brucker blog rant.

Someone was commenting in IRC yesterday that there do seem to be an inordinate number of non-heteros on KYM. Do y'all think that there's something about KYM as a meme site that attracts teh gay, or do you think that that people from the GLBT community just tend to flock together? (Or do you think this may not be an inordinate number of non-heteros?)

@Brucker
I don't the number is that outrageous. After this thread started up, and started gaining replies, people actively sought it out to see what the interest was. Increased interest, and this thread derailing into more of a hand-raising as to who had what sexuality/sex caused even more interest. People who are heterosexual just look in, read through the comments, go "heh", then leave. They don't have much to add to the conversation. People who identify as LGBT DO have something to add, though.

Basically, the minority is being vocal, and seeming larger than what they really are.

I know most people who visit the pony gallery, but don't frequent the forums, are heterosexual. I really know of only maybe three people who aren't – Slinker, Tsouki, and Joe Amethyst.

I won't say that there isn't an abnormally large community of LGBT members on KYM. I don't have enough information to give a definitive answer there. I'm just saying that there may be other reasons as to why it seems larger here than in other places.

Actually, all this really proves is that the LGBT community on KYM is a highly sociable collective.

I mean, think of it this way: If we weren't proactive with our interpersonal communication, you wouldn't notice that there was a significant amount of us on the site. However, because a good amount of us do chat on the forums, our numbers are made clear.

It's simple deduction really. Us "non-heteros" are just plain old blabbermouths.

@Crazy
Vino, C.C., Vino.
And yes, I would identify as bisexual.
…Yup.

I don't know, though. From what I've seen of the site outside the forums, there are more hetero users than there are LGBT.

Last edited Jun 06, 2013 at 05:34AM EDT

Exactly my point. The forums have a higher concentration of homosexuality in it than the rest of the site because gay people, at least on this site, are highly sociable.

Perhaps the expression, "OP is a faggot" holds some merit after all.

All this debate on asexuality makes me question myself now.
I guess you can say I'm a bisexual who isn't sexually attracted to anyone at all, if I don't really fit the definition of asexuality. I mean, I find things sexy but don't want to have sex. Like BSoD said, that could mean I'm just being self-restricting.
