BLATANT SELF-PROMOTION (with a twist)

This is something that I have been trying to get onto for months, and it's finally here, the first set in my let's play series.
Now, tough this may appear as a blatant self promotion for an audience (which it is) it is also something else as well. You see, like other highschoolers I tend to have a problem with procrastination and motivation, to the point where I have delayed my let's play for nearly two months on the idea of "Eh, i'll do it tomorrow" despite it being something that I am very eager and passionate about (video games).

That leads to what this really is; a pledge. A stake in the ground to hold me on my leash, so that I don't wander away and never finish it, a double whammy of getting it out there and nailing me to it at the same time.

This also leads into the actual discussion part of the forum. Have you ever had something that you struggled to get off the ground, wether it be due to time, money, or motivation; and we're you ever able to get it off the ground, did it fail, or you still trying?

I personally don't see anything wrong with this thread. A let's-play isn't something these forums get often, and it's certainly a more original idea than the standard stuff we get at times. So in that way, I simply find this thread a good and original idea that I see no reason for to hold back or lock.

@OP
In case you were wondering, I moved your thread. A Let's-Play is more something for JFF than General imo.

My homework, all the time. I'm bad at finding the motivation and easily get distracted. Random shit suddenly gets super interesting if option 2 involves studying.

Yeah XD at first I was like "Where did my topic go?", but then I found it here makes sense :)

Homework is also something that I have a hard time focusing on, tend to get home and what usually follows is "I wonder what's on the internet today?"

Oh of course. Try my whole entire career.

Also I was going to try and fix your post but for some reason I get a 404 when I try to edit it

Welcome to life. This is the problem everyone faces. We're still trying to find a solution to this global problem affecting all youth, but we cannot be bothered right now.

I get the same way too. For some reason I've always been afraid of success. Thankfully, my aunt is pushing me to make a video game over the summer. She's not too good with computers, but she's a good motivator.

It's good to see that you've been able to start doing something you've always wanted to do. Just don't give up, man. A lot of times, you can't be successful at your first go. You gotta keep selling it until you are.

I wish you the best of luck.

It's very good you actually do something you wanted to do. I know a lot of people who had many good ideas but never fulfilled them. I'm afraid I'm one of them.

For quite some time I've been trying to learn to draw. My first results were horrific and it was highly demotivational. I'm perfectionist and my internal critic is very cruel when it comes to trying new things. I've abandoned drawing many times. My drawing skills are better now, but I lack motivation. And I'm afraid of being judged which doesn't help. There are many other things I'd like to do, but lack of motivation is always a great barrier.

I hope you'll continue making your "let's play" videos. You're good at this, and you'll definitely improve every next time. And I wish everyone on this thread can finally find motivation and fight with procrastination. It's really important. You can never know what hidden talents you have until you try. Never do things "tomorrow". Tomorrow never comes. It's either now or never.

Good luck for all of us. We will need it.

I'm 40 years old, and I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I'd better pick something before my kids beat me to it.
