There doesn't need need to be discussion for a thread to exist.
We have informative threads (when someone posts some news or w/e), or threads like the shipping thread, again no discussion only images with user names slapped on, or drawing threads.
The point of the JFF is to have fun.
So what if it dies in less than a week? So as long as people had some fun, the thread served its purpose
Posting disagreeable things usually starts a flamewar and retarded internet arguments, not serious discussion. And causes people to be upset rather than have fun, you're supposed to be having fun in the JFF.

Then what discussion value do you want to give this thread otherwise? "Potato Salad A is better than Potato Salad B"? or "I like bratwurst"? It's JFF, not much is asked, just as Ivan said. If it's a lame imagedump that dies in a week, then so be it. As long as people are having fun and it's within the rules, how is this an issue? Are you going to be "that guy"?
Perhaps the value of JFF threads is up for discussion, but that's something to discuss in a seperate thread. Ironic thing is that you also take no effort in making "good" JFF threads. Those that create "bad" threads at least try, you try nothing and still complain.
