I don't like the term 'forced meme' because there has to be a degree of entertainment from the meme for it to actually become one. You can try force a meme but if no one enjoys it, it's not a meme.

I do agree. A meme cannot be totally forced. At least some people have to like it. This is what we're here to discuss. What makes a "forced meme" and can memes even really be forced? I think yes, to some degree. Some memes only happen because a certain group of people wants them to happen. (Ex: /r/AdviceAnimals)

If you look in the dictionary for "forced meme", this will be the picture showing alongside the words "Nuff said".

Yeah but when a certain group tries to make something a meme and it only spreads within that area it's not a meme it's an in joke until others spread it to other parts of the internet and it does well then it's just a meme and thus isn't 'forced'.

No, Herculoon didn't kill the gallery. It was closed on my suggestion due to the rampant abuse of it that I'd been handling outside of my own department and the failure of multiple attempts at fixes. I didn't even know Herculoon was a thing until the aftermath and people automatically assuming that it did it in without reading any of our explainations; however, it was a prime example of the problems the gallery was experiencing. It merely happened to be the epik galeri mem of the hour at the time of the lock. Get your facts straight.

It's more that those forced in-jokes in general are part of the reason for the lock (read again: part). Within that sub-reason, the Goat probably has more guilt than the Herculoon due to its larger quantity even after timed passed.

The Herculoon is mostly just a scapegoat (no pun intended) for those who wish to hide that they had a bigger part in the locking of the gallery than the Herculoon posters.
