How was your first driving experience?

Put simply, talk about your first time driving. If it was uneventful than you can tell a tale from when you were working towards your drivers license.

Here's my story: I was 16 and with two weeks of driving practice under my belt I was told by my parents that I was to drive my way to school, with my mother in the passenger's seat and my younger brother in the back seat, as my first test. That morning I was filled with pubescent confidence, believing that I was already a competent driver and that it would be easy. I almost made it all of the way there without error, but at a three-way intersection I learned that I was not the great driver I thought I was. I was on the thru street and I was turning left when my attention lapsed and before I knew it I was accelerating towards the sidewalk. I made a panicked turn, but I misjudged how far i needed to turn the steering wheel and now I was barreling towards the cars waiting to go onto the thru street. I made another reflex turn and by some miracle managed not to hit anybody. After a couple seconds of everyone in the car relaxing from the sudden panic my mom began to, justifiably, rip me a new one for almost creating a traffic accident.

TLDR: I almost crashed my car, my mom yelled at me from the passenger's seat, my brother still doesn't like driving with me, and I learned not to be overconfidence.
