Food and drink you want to like, but can't stand the taste

For me this is "why I don't eat more healthy food" in a nutshell. Food that's supposed to be good for me, like every single vegetable and most fruits, really don't taste good to me at all. I've forced myself to try salad multiple times and it never tastes good to me, not even with different dressings (if anything some of them made salad taste worse). I also don't like the taste of bananas… anymore. You see I used to like bananas when I was in pre-school, I loved eating a cut up banana as a snack, but once I turned age 6 suddenly the taste of bananas became "blech!" inducing. I even tried a banana for the first time in years recently and it tastes EXACTLY as I remember it, but I still can't stand the taste. Only fruits I know I actually like are apples and grapes, and while I like orange flavored stuff like orange juice and such I don't like oranges by themselves.

I also kinda want to like red wine because people say it's one alcoholic beverage with health benefits, but red wine tastes really bland to me. I much prefer white wine because it tastes sweet.

For a second, I didn't think I was going to be able to come up with something. (Which probably has a lot to do with… well… you know.) But then I got it.

Motherfucking cheesecake…

I mean, just look at this shit:

Seems like it'd be an orgasm in your mouth, right? I've noticed that very often, a cheesecake will appear even better than its standard cake counterpart. But… nope. I just can't do cheese in a dessert. Just about everything else, mind you, but not that. The flavor is just too overpowering and unpleasant.

Black pudding/sausages -- it's almost certainly a psychological thing. I simply can't bring myself to enjoy the thought of eating dried blood.

Pizza -- Domino's, Pizza Hut, whatever; most varieties just taste like plastic. The only pizza chain I would say I like is Hell's Pizza, but they're far too expensive. Everyone (especially online) is always talking about how pizza is literally the ambrosia of humankind, which just confuses me.

Soda -- Soda either tastes like someone puked into a cup and then added some flavoring to mask it (Coke), or sugary medicine (Mountain Dew).

I'm fine with most vegetables and salads (coleslaw is Godly, but anything works), and fruit is nice, but I also can't stand bell peppers. Colourful chewy cardboard, in my humble opinion. During my childhood, my mother insisted on reminding me how healthy they were twice a week, so now I just feel guilty whenever I'm eating something with no bell peppers in it, even if it has plenty of other vegetables.

I don't eat tomatoes or anything made of tomatoes or involving tomatoes. This includes pizza, pasta sauces, hamburgers, whatever. Wont fucking touch it if its touched a tomato, I wont even pick them out of a salad because they get nasty tomato juice on everything and you can taste them anyway. I want to like them though because they're literally in everything and I wish I ate a better variety of food.

I also don't eat dressings of any kind. At all. My salads are just a bunch of raw veggies (except tomatoes), I don't use mustard or ketchup or ranch or any of that. Disgusting. It's either gloppy fat or liquid fat in most cases. I also don't eat things like coleslaw or potato salad or anything that involves mixing a dressing into a food. But again, dressing/sauces are on everything, and I wish I was able to like them.

Well, there's your problem. If you want a really good pizza, you have to go to a local pizzeria, not a chain.

As for me, I have this thing where I can't eat carrots that have been cooked in any way. I have to eat carrots raw otherwise, I'm very likely not to touch it. Cooked carrots just seem wrong for some reason.

I'm with you 100%. Even though everyone tells me that cheesecake is like sex in your mouth I just can't stand cheese in any kind of sweet dessert. That includes anything with cream cheese icing as well.

Basically anything that actually tastes good but the concept of the food or the texture I don't like. If I don't like the idea of what I'm eating even if it tastes totally fine and I liked it before realizing what it is I will stop eating it for good unless for some reason I'm dying of hunger and it's the only food option available. For example I loved calamari before I figured out it was squid, now looking at it nauseates me. I once ate a salad that had octopus but it was skinned so it didn't obviously look like octopus or have suckers or anything, it looked more like string cheese. Upon realizing what it was and why those little slices were so rubbery, instantly stopped eating. I think lots of people know that feel. Some people get mad at me for being this way and say it's irrational but I'll just agree I'm not going to justify it I just won't eat the shit. If I'm not going to die and can eat other things I don't have to.

Also I agree with particle on soda. I keep drinking it every once in a while because everyone loves it so much but to me it's just, bleh. I probably will never have serious weight problems due to my aversion to soda since it along with sugary drinks in general is generally the primary cause of weight gain.

SAUSAGE: Good Rayquaza almighty, it is just hideous… Everyone else loves it, but for me, it's like murdering my breakfast…
Cheesecake: Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to make something that looks better than cake and the absolutely butcher it with cheese?!
Watermelon: Yet another stereotype that I end up shattering. Watermelon is downright fucking disgusting to me…
Any kind of pizza that isn't plain cheese: Seriously. I can eat cheese pizza until I have stomach problems… but anything on it? Hell no.

Pasta Salad, Potato Salad, Vinegar, Olive Oil. As a half-Italian this should be right up my alley, but no. Anything that's cold and oily, I simply can't stand. It's like licking greasy metal.

What about patty sausage? Or the kind of sausage you'd find in pasta?

Also, I usually agree with you on watermelon. But every once in a long while I'll have wedges just cut from a really fresh one that's crispy all the way through, in which case I think it's quite delicious. It's just the texture when it's mushy (unfortunately most of the time, at least from the handful of times I've had it) that turns me off from it.

In fact, true story- the only two kinds of fruits I really like are grapes and apples.

^ Watermelon's texture reminds me of really loose, really sandy styrofoam. Tastes about the same to me as well.

As long as its not too full of seeds, and isn't a melon, I like it as a fruit.

Blue Cheese – It tastes okay when a very little bit is mixed with a bunch of other ingredients, but it's horrible on its own.

Honestly i hate eating cake, especially tres leche cake. It doesnt taste right having bread with frosting on top. and the warm frosting that sticks to your fingers doesnt make it any more palatable. Sweetbread is much better imo.
Mangoes can go burn in hell for all the mouth burns they caused me.
