KYM RPG REBOOT

It's actually one of those programs that are simplistic and nobody really expects anything from it, but it capable of truly amazing things. Like MMD.
I couled even make a Touhou game on it if I want.

As much as I wouled like to, I need two things:
-A tutorial on how to make a turn based RPG game. I haven't made one of them before, so it will be a bit slow at first (I can find this on my own though).
-Sprites. Game Maker puts heavy emphasis on sprites, you can't begin to create the game if you don't have them, and I can't just go back and switch them out completly later, It wouled take too much work.
But all I need is KYM Tan sprites to start, so if we host a contest to get those made by the time the contest ends I will have enough spare time to begin the tech demo.

Ok, ill be hosting the contest in a diffrent thread but first Ill ask you guys if this sounds ok:

We need a good edit of Zelos from Tales of the World for GBA;
to be KYM-Tan. We also need the Overworld Sprite.

I still think that it would take much too long for us to program our own engine, when we can easily modify RPG Maker's. And RPG Maker is specialized for RPGs anyways, but instead of using 2003, i still stand by the proposal of using VX instead.

But we still need sprites.

I still say we shouled use Game Maker, the RPG Maker seires limits our abilatly to distibute the game, as I have found to be true with ALL of the RPG Maker programs. Besides, it costs alot of money for each of us to have it.

I have been thinking how to make this game useing Game Maker, and actually I have got it sort of figured out, Ill start once I get the Overworld Sprite.

And yes, I know we are going to be hosting the contest on another thread, I just whanted to know if everyone aprooved of Zelos being the base for KYM-Tan.

Allright, Ill set the goal for the fist tech demo. It will be mostly the same as the original;
2 rooms, one for NPC's and the other for Encounters. Im confident I can tackle the NPC room in a day so Ill post it after I have finished it.
Even though I have the basic idea down on what I shouled do with the Battle System, It's still going to take awile, but I will try to include most the Troll Types, Epic Fail Guy, and Edward Elric in the enemy lineup.
As for playable characters; Ill be makeing KYM-Tan, Pwnzer, Len, RG, Myself, and Lance. This is enough characters to try to in battle party switch system. Ill also have them compleate up to LV 15.
Ill also have a third room that will trigger an event of some kind if possible.

All I need is KYM-tan to get started.

Nope, because nobody gave me feedback on if we shouled use Zelos as our base or not.

Actually, I know KYM-Tans moveset better than anyone, so I think it's fine. Ill get to that.

Can someone convince Ashbot to write the script for the Persona segment and to have him and Moargun write any Pokemon segment we may have?
I'll try writing a segment for Kingdom Hearts.
Also, after this is done, the next logical step is to make a KYM MMO

I started ideas for the opening sequence. It basically starts out like:

A mash up of several fox news rant's about how Video Games and Internet are bad, the Internet is killing your kids brains, and a censorship is about to be included, but it suddenly cuts to John Cleese sitting at his desk. "And now for something completely different."
{Insert Opening Credits and themesong here}

And… thats all I have.

Allright, from what I understand to include Cutscenes in Game Maker: I have two choices. Export the cutscene as a gif animation along with exporting the sound in a diffrent file, I can freeze the game and play the cutscene and it's sound useing an trigger.
My second choice is to get the Pro Edition of Game Maker to use the built in Movie Player, but that cost's money I don't have and probably not going to have for awile due to me hoarding my cash for a 3DS.

As for the size of the file, I checked and 250 MB is enough data to hold a 30 minute video of 720×392 Size anime, that's WAY more than 300 MB for 10 Seconds of footage. Try messing with the export settings on Blender and changeing the render resolution to 620×480.

I'm using lightwave now instead of blender so I can't work it quite the same way. I can render the video into .jpegs of each frame and if you can put them together into a .gif in some program that could work. The major problem is that my sound editing computer is dead right now so I can't do that part for a few weeks.

If I knew how to sprite or how to work any of these game makers I'd gladly design a few segments. I've made video games before (more total conversion mods than seperate games) but only using existing engines like Age of Empires and Mechwarrior 4. If you guys have any ideas for cutscenes or an intro I could start on that and be finished within a relatively short amount of time. Even just the characters, items, objects, or environments that would be in them I could at least get started on.

This thread is pure procrastination, present the product or stfu. I would play your game because it has a decent premise, hell I would even spread it around for you. Until then, just do it or forget about it til you have the time to back it up.
