this is totally unrelated to everything, but i've been thinking about it for a while: how can americans NOT know military time? i know AM and PM and military time! and why is it, that you (sorry i'm ranting, it's late so i'll probably read this in the morning and shake my head) always expect that we know wtf you are talking about, when you say central time and easter time and stuff like that. why don't you just use the -8 -7 -6 etc. as the rest of us!
when i hear you guys talk about military times, you sound like it's a totally unknown system or something. haven't all people got military time on their cells?

It's only 15:22 here. I have to use military time when I fill out my time card and yes I have an APP on my phone called zombie clock that I keep on military time.

Does this really need to be made a thread? And no, no American in the US uses military time, I'm not sure how that works.

Military time is the 24 hour clock. That's easy, and most Americans probably can figure out that 15:22 is the same as 3:22 PM.

But TIME ZONES are not the same thing as what you're calling Military Time, Johanne. I believe the term you're looking for is Greenwhich Mean Time, or GMT.

Eastern Time is GMT -4
Central Time is GMT -5
Mountain Time is GMT -6
Pacific Time is GMT -7

Now how about we sort out why people in the UK have the insufferable habit of referring to AC power as "mains power."

I use military time every day since I am in the military. Derp…

But I think its annoying though. I'd rather say its 3 than fifteen hundred. Of course its 3pm when there is light outside so u can't fuck it up.

Lol! I'm a meteorologist and wanting to go in the air force, so I hear Zulu, GMT, Military time, and AM/PM all in one week. XD

BTW, phone is set in military time.

also those times are affected by CST or CDT. I usually wind up saying -6 when it's -5 o.O

Oh yeah, you're right. Daylight Savings isn't acknowledged everywhere either.
That's probably why we give names to our time zones instead of going by GMT.

Edit: nvm, I know what 1800 and all that crap means when it's supposed to be 6 o'clock and stuff.
