I remember that. I-dosing making you hear different kinds of sounds to make you "high". I remember watching comments about its effects on various people, from the ones saying "I didn't feel anything" to the "when I was listening to it, I was constantly thinking there was someone behind my back".

More than videos, I think there are some websites dedicated to streaming mp3 i-dosers.

So, ya think it may be a meme? I saw the comments on the Oklahoma Newscast, and they all pointed out how it wasn't a real drug and not a gateway drug. It may have started in 2004 (allegedly), but I think it has gone viral now. There's even a version useing the nurse of the school in Oaklahoma:

I-dosing is just one brand, but the technique has been around for decades and it's called binaural beats. Basically, you play two slightly different tones into each ear, and your brain detects the difference between the two tones, fooling you into hearing a "wah wah wah" sound. That much is solid fact.

Where the bullshit comes into play is the idea of what's called "frequency following response" in which your brain's natural clock will sync up with the same frequency as the difference between the two waves. There is no evidence of this being effective. It's not like digital drugs. It's like optical illusions for your ears.

I've experimented a lot with binaural beats once upon a time, before KYM existed. Here are a couple of tracks:

Recurring Dream by Chris Menning

And here's one of my tracks that doesn't use binaural beats, but I just felt like sharing.
