Try listening to what the rest of the mod team has to say before taking action as a mod

are you implying every action? The biggest (near) mod fuck-up in memory was [REDACTED] spam banning a legit user with hundreds of images uploaded. Nobody is realistically expecting him to second-check with another mod whenever he bans a spambot, though.

There are some decisions where I already do ask for second opinions almost all the time, such as banning normal users or deleting borderline images. But you are being unrealistic if you expect me to follow this advice to the T. Deleting comments are among the things I can and will do without asking anyone. If I fuck up, it’s my problem and I’ll take advice to improve, but I’m not about to start asking for second opinions whenever I delete. Also, if you want to talk about the star wars comments, message me. I dunno why you’re mentioning it now when you could’ve discussed it with me when it happened. Start with this if you want to improve communications and whatnot.

Also, fyi, I’d be happier to follow this advice if half of you guys were less insufferable to talk to. At present, for the mutual happiness of all parties involved, I keep mod council dealing to a necessary minimum.

pm somewhat brought it up in her posts and it seemed kinda glazed over within the arguments about moderation activities.

i may (may) be the worst for it but this past dialogue is near unreadable considering how bitter it seems. i think we all understand that we are a moderation team and should work like a team, but i think we should also communicate with each other like a team. snark and belittling are useless to a good moderator discussion if not detrimental.

i understand that it is impossible to take the job (if you can even call it that) of a internet moderator seriously. but i don’t think it would be too difficult for us all to pretend like we do in mod forum. I’ve read some articles on moderator conduct (i can’t recommend it) and they often talk about “professionalism”. we all make clear arguments, refer to one another respectfully and make constructive criticism. i am not advocating it for the rest of the site (i think that letting mods goof around makes for a more entertaining site), although some users may see it as a welcome change. but i think it may be the least we can do you save ourselves from making such a spectacle out of our paltry duties.

I must be the only one here who thinks these guys are absolute trash gimmicks with no talent whatsoever. I didn't make it through the entire council forum because they're so god damn awful. They say the most middle school shit I have ever heard. Their arguments are on par with just about some of the worst, I want to say, in mod history. I see no appeal, whatsoever, in their suspension jokes. To me, SOLELY sounding smart doesn't cut it. These guys are just a big flop for me. I sincerely tried to listen to them. 0.5/10
