Probably just how it's so… misleading and happy compared to what the show ultimately becomes.

Even though I'm not a fan of Attack on Titan, I do love the opening theme.

I'm really loving the opening theme of Serial Experiments Lain.

The song is Duvet by Bôa, and it's one of the rare cases where an anime has an opening theme with english lyrics (that you can actually understand). The song itself is from an album called Twilight, and it's probably my alltime favourite album. I'm so glad that I picked up Lain, since it eventually became my favourite anime, and also introduced me to Bôa.

Watching this makes me feel manly and fabulous.

Another song I wanted to add but is blocked on youtube is the opening to Samurai Flamenco (both of them)

This shows opening is not only my favourite one just because of the awesome theme, but this was the show that got me back into anime.

tbh, it's pretty hard to judge the opening by itself for me, if i liked the anime, i'll most likely connotate the opening theme positively and therefore like it, it would have to be pretty horrible if i'd dislike it.
