Like the Disappointing Shows thread, this thread is about TV Shows that you were either trying to avoid or you thought went to shit, only in this one, you describe how you saw potential in it again or got back into it after seeing some improvement.
Here's mine, and this will be controversial.
Spongebob Squarepants:
I was a die-hard lover of the show when I was a kid, so when I saw just how stupid and unfunny Season 6 and 7 were, I lost faith. I didn't watch the show until much later, actually around this time. I found something that shocked the hell out of me; I saw ONE CLIP from the new movie, and it left me freaking dying, moreso than the original seasons. It was around this time I fished around for some more info and found that Spongebob's quality skyrocketed as of late, with some moments still being wacky and weird, but managing to be hilarious all the same (One scene comes to mind where the shrimp guy got pummeled by a bed.).
Adventure Time:
All the newfound episodes that were dramatic and dark pushed me away from the series with the sheer amount of dark elements that appeared in a once whimsical and funny show. Then I watched it again, and saw that the show hadn't lost what made me like it. While the dark elements are definitely still there, they're handled much better, the romance arcs are finally in the background, making it much easier to enjoy the characters without the Plot Tumors, and finally it is just plain funny. Would gladly watch it a lot more.
Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D:
This one is more one that I was averse to at first. I didn't want to see jack shit about it due to the fact that I thought it would be a cheap cash-in. Boy was I wrong. I felt like I was finally getting some info on what the world of Marvel is like in the eyes of normal humans. Not just that, but it feels just like the cinematic movies, a rare achievement indeed. This show managed to make me go from ignoring it to loving it.
