Howdy, guys! Space Stranger, here! I noticed that there was a disturbing lack of Disney discussion around these meme-loving parts and I wanted to change that with a large general thread discussing everything about the company.

You may be asking yourself, "What constitutes as Disney discussion?". Well, the answer is: EVERYTHING that relates to Disney. Whether that be Disney animation, Pixar, Marvel, Toon Disney, etc.

If you're discussing a latest film from the company, kindly, keep it in spoilers for the sake of others who want to see the film. Follow the forum rules and have fun!

Here's my collection, Disney Canon on the top shelf, Pixar on the bottom

I started converting to Blu-Ray not that long ago, so that's why most are still DVD. Also I don't like getting combo packs.

I just watched Little Mermaid for the millionth time the other night. I just don't get tired of it. Although I find Little Mermaid to be one of my top Disney movies, it's mostly for nostalgic reasons. I still love it to death, but I also see it's flaws as well as its strengths. I think Tangled is the closest Disney has ever come to making a perfect movie. Even though I've always identified with Ariel and have her as my avatar on many sites, I actually find myself identifying with Rapunzel much more. I'm just going to say I love them equally. I have a very ambitious dream of one day cosplaying every Disney princess. Will I actually achieve that? Probably not, but I am in the planning stage for an Anna cosplay (coronation dress) that I'm very excited for.

So what am I excited for with upcoming Disney movies?

I've been particularly excited for Zootopia ever since the teaser came out a while back

It's exciting to see Disney come back to using anthropomorphic animals for their characters for the first time since like the 90s (unless you count Emperor's New Groove). I particularly love that it looks like they are going to try to keep all the animals within relative scale to one another.

I also absolutely can not wait for Moana. The people working on the movie clearly have such high respect and appreciation for the culture they are working with, and after seeing some images from D23 it's safe to say I shit my pants.

Uuuuuuuuuugh, so beautiful!

To provide a little insight on my Disney obsession: I'm a big Toy Story toy collector (think back to Al from Toy Story 2). I have a large shelf full close-to-screen accurate replicas to boxed action figures. I've been trying to save some money to start buying some other merchandise from my favorite Disney films such as the Disney Store Gogo Tomago and Maleficent dolls.

Recently, I've been saving up for this screen accurate replica of Woody:

…Needless to say that I'm going to be pretty strapped for cash this holiday season.

Adam DeLand
Sick Blu-Ray/DVD collection! I've been trying to save up for a Blu-Ray player since most exclusive content is only shown on Blu-Ray. I have a lot of classic Disney films on VHS but I haven't watched them in years.

Crimson Locks
I can relate. I often re-watch the Toy Story trilogy and I still enjoy them despite their flaws. Out of the Disney Princess films, I would say that I like Beauty & the Beast and Mulan. Both movies have my favorite songs and characters.

I'm pretty excited for Moana and Zootopia as well. Both teams seem to be very involved in creating a believable yet interesting world for the new characters. On the Pixar side, I'm stoked for The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory, Toy Story 4, Coco (previously called The Untitled Pixar Film about Día de los Muertos), and The Incredibles 2. I'm pretty worried about Toy Story 4's direction as a love story but I'm intrigued how they intend to re-introduce Bo Peep to a new audience.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but has anyone here played Disney Infinity, and if so, is it any good? Lego Dimensions is way outside my budget, and Disney Infinity 3.0 has some nice characters, so I'm wondering if it could be a slightly less expensive alternative. Is there much to it beyond endless sandboxes?

Anything Disney related is fine here: whether it's Kingdom Hearts or Marvel.

Despite being a Disney fanatic, I do not have Disney Infinity but I've played it with a friend. Each of the playsets have their own story mode where you complete certain objectives. Take the recently added Inside Out playset, the 5 emotions journey around different parts of Riley's brain.

If you've played the Toy Story 3 Video Game, you will notice that the Toy Box in DI is an expansion on the idea in TS3. I want to get it for Christmas but I'll need to save up for the Toy Story trio, Jack Skellington, and The Incredibles.

If the Ramsey Dinosaur doesn't yell some G-Rated version of "It's Fucking Raw!" then I'm going to be disappointed.

Ok kinda joking aside I am going to tell my thoughts on some Disney subjects:

Frollo is the best villain. Hands down (Gaston and Turbo are also great).

My favourite films are Who Framed Roger Rabbit (I am a sucker for live action and cartoon hybrids like that movie).Wreck-It Ralph and Hunchback of Notre Dame (best songs, without a doubt), tho pretty much any Pixar movie is great (not Cars and Cars 2).

On the Parks side of things, I'm really friggin' excited about what we've got coming up. Star Wars Land, Avatar Land, and Toy Story Land all sound fantastic. (I was actually super resentful about having Avatar in Animal Kingdom at first, but the more I've thought about, the more the idea grew on me. I'm sure the final product will be gorgeous. Plus, it'll push AK's operating hours into the night, aww yuss).

Soarin' Over the Horizon seems like it'll be a must-ride as soon as it hits the States. It's starting out in Shanghai Disneyland (which is a whole other beast of awesomeness itself) but is apparently coming stateside early next year.

And as always, I'm very pumped for the upcoming lineup of movies.

…Especially Jungle Book and Gigantic. I can already tell I'm going to love Moana's soundtrack, and Pixar's Coco, from what I hear, is a dream come true. Obligatory hype for Star Wars, of course.

If you can't tell, this year's D23 was 2hype4me

All these characters are what worry me. What if I spend an assload getting all the characters I want and decide I don't like the game much?

I wish there was a demo of the thing, but I can't find one.

On the Parks side of things, I’m really friggin’ excited about what we’ve got coming up. Star Wars Land, Avatar Land, and Toy Story Land all sound fantastic. I'd thought Universal had won the theme park war for the near future with Nintendo Land, but I stand corrected. Get Soarin' 2 hype!

I've got to say, I'm nervous about Toy Story Land, though. While it's an interesting idea, the information I've dug up makes it seem like it'll be the Toy Story equivalent of Disneyland's Cars Land, which itself is mostly commonplace carnival rides with a(n admittedly beautiful) Cars reskin. While Cars Land isn't bad, per se, it just seems disappointingly uninspired to me. Hopefully, Toy Story Land won't receive the same treatment.

Wow, I've neglected this poor thread in a while.
@Snickerway, #1 Villain I think that you should try to demo the game at a store that has a DI display in order to get a feel of the game. I tried it over at a friend's house and I thought it was pretty interesting but not on my radar for right now.

In other news, Brad Bird is 3/4ths done with The Incredibles 2's script. No word on whether or not it will release before Cars 3.

Sad double post update
Anyway, some new images of the Pixar short, "Sanjay's Super Team". Compared to my slight disappointment with Lava, I'm looking forward to this short. Pixar Post has a few preview images shown.

You can find a preview and more information here

Do you like news? Well, the next films of Pixar (and one more that isn't Pixar's*) had a bit of reshuffling process for their release dates.

I'll show them as it follows:

Cars 3 – June 16, 2017
Coco – November 22, 2017
*Gigantic – March 9, 2018
Toy Story 4 – June 15, 2018
The Incredibles 2 – June 21, 2019

(I'm just going to point out that it took 15 years for The Incredibles to get a part II)

Well I'm not sure if Brad Bird initially wanted one in the first place, it's the people that kept eggin' him to do so.

Time to heat up the discussion a bit.

I'm really getting tired of the 3d hype they are in.
Of course the animation is awesome but it would be really refreshing to see a new 2d movie.

Are the rumors true that there will appear a Disney character in the new star wars movie?

fades away

Why do I keep forgetting I made this thread?

Anyway, Toy Story That Time Forgot releases today on Blu-Ray and DVD. The coolest thing about the release is this sick, Battlesaurs trailer made by Pixar in collaboration with Trigger.

This intro has made me hunger for a television show, akin to the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command series back in '00. At least it allows for a continuation of the Toy Story fictional products without impacting the series.

In addition, Pixar released a short clip of Sanjay's Super Team a while ago which opens with the superhero-esque inspiration to Sanjay's imagination of the Hindu gods.

The heroes remind me of the deceased, golden age heroes from The Incredibles.

And on the Star Wars side of things, there is a rumor that Disney plans on retiring the Slave Leia outfit for all future merchandise. Knowing collectors, the value of the older products will go up in value but what are your thoughts? Personally, I never really cared about Slave Leia since Leia always remained pretty badass in the films.

The quoted post has been deleted.

According to some guy on reddit,
"Ok, so here's what's up with that. On the spines of some VHS (and BetaMax) tapes is a black diamond with Walt's signature on it. This was Disney's first attempt to market their videos to homes.
Because of this, certain Disney collectors are convinced that these VHS tapes are worth something.
Personally I think this is just a nostalgia fueled fad that will leave a lot of people with buyer's remorse."

So, it's pretty much the case of scalpers being scalpers for the sake of a profit.

“And on the Star Wars side of things, there is a rumor that Disney plans on retiring the Slave Leia outfit for all future merchandise. Knowing collectors, the value of the older products will go up in value but what are your thoughts?”

From my understanding, the Star Wars films are remaining under the Lucasfilm brand. Disney’s pretty good in keeping their adult-oriented brands (like Touchstone) separate from their main family-friendly one, so Slave Leia’s probably safe. I think it’s just another one of those “DISNEY RUINS EVERYTHING!!1!!!111!!!” kind of rumors.

By the way, the lead directing animator for The Good Dinosaur gave a presentation at my uni today. Obviously I wasn’t allowed to record video or take any pictures, but here are some cool spoiler-free details:

- It’s a “boy and his dog” story (kinda obvious but hey, it’s confirmed)
- It’s a Western
- It has minimal dialogue (like Wall-E)
- THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO FUCK ME UP

I know I don't post here much but I just wanted to share some of my memories of Toy Story since it is the 20th anniversary today.

I never had the chance to see the film in theaters but my cousins had the VHS tape. When I first played that VHS tape and saw the toys come to life, I was immediately hooked. The characters, the ordinary setting, and the dialogue was so magical to the point where I thought my own Woody and Buzz Lightyear action figures were real. At that moment, I was hooked! I bought the DVD set for Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 2000 and I continued to accumulate a bunch of merchandise which would later become my Toy Story collection.

The reason why I slightly prefer Woody over Buzz is not necessarily due to the film itself, but more of a personal connection. My grandfather bought me a Woody doll for my birthday and he was a big influence in my life. The moment I received that toy, I became so attached to him. I still have it on my shelf to this day.

Happy anniversary, Toy Story. No matter how underwhelming Toy Story 4 may turnout, I will still cherish the memories.

I'm both excited and nervous for the Pete's Dragon remake coming out next year in August. I'm nervous on how a childhood favorite will probably turn out, but I'm also glad to see it reimagined. Previous remakes of older live-action Disney films have turned out more critically successful than the previous, such as The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, so that's something that has good outlook. Of course, it comes out the week after Suicide Squad's release, so I don't know how it'll hold up to that.
