Depends on a situation
Shows like Gumball and We Bare Bears did include Internet culture and jokes. However, rather than making those jokes just to be "trendy and hip", they do in-fact acknowledge why are there in the first place and sometimes even mock them (example: Gumball did reference Crazy Frog, old thing from the 2000's, but they didn't reference it because it was popular at the time, but because to mock it).
Referencing fandom in-jokes is fine too, but sparingly. It's nice to see people behind the show acknowledge the fanbase.
Those are some positives about referencing the internet jokes. Either it has to fit the tone of the show or just a little fandom nod.
On other hand, here we have the negative things about this.
Even if the show is good, it will make it dated, no matter what. It will become the product of the 2010's.
Making outdated references is a pretty big no towards audience. Most of them will just frown and sigh whenever this happens or even abandon watching the show. Prime example: that duckface reference in Fairy Odd Parents. It felt like the toon was trying to be hip with the kids, but utterly failed.
References that do not fit the show at all. Let's just say your show is set in the medieval fantasy world or in the times of Roman empire and then some character references a Filthy Frank in-joke (pick one). It does not fit the show at all. Example: Usage of Gagnam Style in the movie Nut Job (terrible movie btw), even though it is set in the 50's.
So outdated and unfitting references are a big no-no.
