I didn't see this coming. Hell, I just learned about it a few minutes ago. The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, South Paw, etc.) stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, and several others in a remake of the 1960 classic Western film of the same name (which in turn was a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1954 classic Seven Samurai). What do you guys think? You think it'll be another typical Hollywood remake, or do you think this movie will do alright?

Why make a remake of a remake?
There's probably more than one way to make a "last stand" kind of movie (in fact, one was made featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger not too long ago) with a western setting without having to resort to a remake.
Can't say whether it would be good or not, but it just strikes me again as lazy and a cash-in.
Maybe I'm not much of a person to argue the "ethics" of making a "tasteful" remake, but I'm honestly looking forward to this movie.
Now tbf, the original Magnificent Seven was one of my favorite western movies, and the original Seven Samurais is another classic movie for my childhood so I have a personal soft spot for this story.
So maybe I might have a slight bias for this remake, but I can recognize that all the same it could very well suck. However, that doesn't seem too likely as the trailer shows a bit of promise.
