Given Harley was one of the more well received characters in the Suicide Squad movie, it was probably to be expected a spin-off would occur. At present the movie is not a "solo" Harley Quinn project, as it seems to actually be a combination of Harley and other female DC characters, such as the Birds of Prey (as such, Katana might also return in this movie).
