I will start off by saying I know the old thread based on this same topic is only one page back, but unfortunately I can't bump it anymore due to it being inactive for too long.

Anyway recently I thought of another guilty pleasure of mine, and that's early 00s bands that are/were a combination of "post grunge" and alt-rock/alt-metal like Puddle of Mudd, Chevelle, Crossfade, and Breaking Benjamin (though BB is one of the few bands in this category that's enjoyed critical acclaim and continued commercial success).

I say this because the genre tends to have a bad reputation for one reason or another. One reason is because bands like Creed and Nickelback are often seen as bands that made post grunge into sort of a "joke," and the genre is hated by grunge and metal purists for not really fitting into the classic definitions of either genre. (Personally I'm actually rather neutral on Nickelback, I've never really liked or hated them, though maybe there's one or two songs from them I found better than expected, though yeah I never cared much for Creed; Alter Bridge is a band formed by three of the four members of Creed, with Scott Stapp being the only member to not return, and it's WAY BETTER because of it as it's clear from listening to Alter Bridge that Stapp was the weak link in Creed)

Some of my favorites in this genre include songs such as these:

Though for Breaking Benjamin I could have used a lot of examples as I enjoy the vast majority of their output, but I figured I'd stick to something from the early 00s to go with the rest of the songs. Also as for "Blurry" by Puddle of Mudd I admit one likely reason for my affinity with the song is because it reminds me a lot of Ace Combat 5 (my favorite in the series), as the song is featured in the game and plays during the credits.

The entire Sonic Heroes soundtrack could arguably count because of the high levels of cheese present in many tracks, but this one in particular is a big guilty pleasure of mine:

Despite being a horrible game, it has really impressive 90s-sounding music. I listen to it all the time.

I have no guilty pleasures. I am proud of what I like.

I know all the lyrics to "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton by heart and will sing it unironically.

There's also a part of me that is a little ashamed of really liking most of Fall Out Boy's songs, mostly because it reminds me of my middle school/Hot Topic phase and no one should remember that time in their life

Basically any song from Maroon 5 I like (namely Sunday Morning).

I also have a soft spot for sappy love songs (or just sappy stuff in general) even if it's mainstream pop stuff. I just generally like happy sounding songs.

I guess it counts as a guilty pleasure. I recently rediscovered the group Ancient Bards. I usually like the sounds of most symphonic metal-ish groups at least a little bit (sometimes the vocalists turn me off but that's not the case with this group).

I call it a guilty please because, while I love the sound of the music, and trying to tell a story across multiple songs (and albums) the problem is… the songs don't rhyme most of the time. And by that I mean most of the time they it feels like don't even try to use words that sound that similar if said in normal conversation.

There's probably a bunch of other music that, under "normal" crowds I would consider a guilty please, like the "I Love Toy Trains" soundtrack, but eh, it's not that weird on a meme site.

Is a fine example. I also enjoy proper Vapourwave, too.

I unironically like Evanescence, i find the music is very therapeutic for me and a way to release the emotions that all guys are forced to keep inside.

Basically, anything that I originally found on this YouTube music channels called BestMusicForCOD. They bring back memories of 2012 (probably the best/most memorable year of my life). And I'm already a sucker for music with the kind of formula like these.

Was looking up obscure crap that I barely remembered from when I was like 4-6 and I happened upon this Sesame Street song that I like way more than anyone my age without kids should like a Sesame Street song

The Bloodhound Gang: Immature, sexist, and offensive, but I've listened to them more than nearly any other band.

I secretly have a guilty pleasure of loving Eurobeat, like the ones in Initial D

Snails: A dubstep/trap/bass house producer hailing from Canada whose signature style involves heavy bass and obnoxious wobbly sound effects. The approach to EDM has him coining the term "vomitstep."

Botnek: A house duo hailing from Canada whose style of music is fairly similar to Snails: utilizing heavy bass and obnoxious sound effects.

When you put both together, you get a monstrosity of a track such as "Ur 2 Cool"

I should have no reason liking this style of music: it's loud and obnoxious, yet I can't help but go crazy whenever it comes up.

Krewella: An EDM duo (formerly trio) hailing from Chicago. They are known for their sort of rebellious teen and edgy lyrics and attitude that is so laughably cringy, yet I can't help but love it. When their music producer, Rain Man, was a part of the group, I loved the grimy, hard hitting production style that screams pre-2014 quality of Dubstep, Electro, and other forms of Bass Music, despite the lame, edgy lyrics and very dated production value.

After Rain Man left/was kicked out of the group, Krewella had a hard time returning to form, relying on ghost production from other artists like Pegboard Nerds and Diskord. A lot of their songs have been very hit or miss, but their latest EP had them returning to form in some songs, my personal favorite being "Broken Record," that honesty is their least cringiest song since "Alive" or "Live For the Night." It's a great break up song that calls back to Rain Man's eventual leaving of the group.

I'm not as much of a fan of Krewella as I was when I was 18 or so, but they still hold a special place when it comes to my love of Electronic music.
