I think I remember reading/ hearing somewhere that there's a term for the "grey area" where oweners of a copyright are in a position to be able to enforce that copyright, but choose not to for financial and/ or publicity reasons. I'm not 100% if I'm "making it up" or if it's a memory from something I actually read or heard, but if anyone has any idea, I'd much appreciate it. It could have been in the context of abandonware or copyright law or digital obsolescence, but I'm not positive.
