So recentley a thread was locked for making fun of a certain user.
When was this rule established and written in the official rules?
This has been a running theme latley it seems. Mods locking threads based less on the actual rules written in the original announcement thread and more on how they feel about it and magical rules that don't exist. No where does it say you have to have permission by the user if you want to make a thread on them, and many times there have been threads locked by mods because they personally dislikes them. Were these threads harmful and should've locked anyways? Maybe but thats up to opinion, and those should not dictate what stays and what goes. If you want something to be a rule please establish it as a rule and not pull it out of your ass and sctew someone over with hit. You guys have the power to do this, but for whatever reason you don't.
To quote a mod, this seems "nazi as fuck imo"

I mean for the record I DID suggest adding this to the rules, but we still couldn't agree on it soooo
The unwritten rule is, you can make a riffraff thread about anyone, but it gets taken down if they have serious objections to it. It's been these since the ancient roast threads, and it was even there on the KYM wiki while it was still a thing. This is a rule that's always existed.
6. Be Friendpfffhaha sorry, let me try again. Ahem, Be Frhahaha. No, that rule is not enforced here. Donât go cyberbullying or publicly harassing, but if you have beef this is the place to vent. We promise not to laugh at you ;).
What is the point of this existing if you can, i want that thread locked and it does. Or is it a mod privilege? I haven't seen this happen before)
Tbh I was confused by the lock as well, unlocked it, but then relocked it because I at times miss these decision moments and wanted to discuss it first to avoid public drama.
@21
To my knowledge on what we discussed on the rules, any rule rewrite would also (partly) depend on the board's fate, with rule rewrites getting a high priority if we kept RR as is.
But RR got hidden (by Don decision, working on getting a seperate sub-forum after all), so that's not the case anymore.
To note: Locking RR was technically always allowed if the person getting mocked wasn't cool with it and the thread took it too far (as read in the rule 6 details on "no bullying or harassing"), we just didn't live up to the rule enough. But that you have to request permission before making the thread is unheard of even to me. So as far as that lock goes, it appear too rushed.
Edit: If the user didn't like it, then I judged too quickly here.
If we're thinking about the same thread, the user wasn't cool with it, and that's why I locked it.
@RM
The rule rewrites I suggested were independent of those regarding Riff-Raff's fate. This rule in particular was just a written version of what we already do. Yeah the current rules TECHNICALLY allow it but it really is just that, there is no clear rule saying this and you definitely wouldn't know unless you were told. That doesn't really help users know what they can and can't do, as shown by this thread.

Pretty sure that rule only exists if it was just a light hearted joke. This may have been harassment.

Except it was made by Captain Blubber. After the rules were made, Captain Blubber encourage the people at Riff-Raff to get me to post at Riff-Raff so he can 'ban my retarded ass'. This started my harassment as a prime target and I hated it.

i posted in mod forum that as far as i was concerned, "harassment" was when online prodding spilled over into irl stuff. doxxing, invading their personal social media profiles, etc. being called out for being dumb was never what i would consider harassment.

8. What happens in Riff Raff stays in Riff Raff. Riff Raff promotes shitposts and making fun of each other, but that doesnât mean you can spill it out into the other boards. Keep the other boards on topic and donât chase users around the forums mocking them. The regular rules apply out there and youâll get in deep doo-doo.
I find it baffling that the guy who wrote this rule now seems to deny its existence. It's like rule doublethink.
The problem is "make fun of each other" almost always translates to "shitpost on their wall/reply in comment threads." This spreads the pointless bullshit and drama to the rest of the site and causes bitterness and grudges to form between users that are never amicably resolved. If the mods can't contain the cancer of Riff Raff to Riff Raff, then the whole thing needs to be excised, lest it metastasize onto the rest of KYM.

I was going to argue to Captain Blubber(butt) and have a long rant about his hypocrisy and grudge against me that made me became Riff-Raff's prime target of harassment.
But I'm not going to do that as it will cause more drama. I've been there before and I will never do it again. But yeah, Riff-Raff needs to be taken care of.

this is true and what happened with gaben was wrong sure. but on;y the gif was meant for him and not the rest of the post. that was in ref to the arcanine thead. also i must concede that really nothing dramatic has hapened in rr for the last couple months. people mostly seem to find it annoying.

Ditch the self-absorbance, mr "prime target". You're mentioned pretty much never nowadays.

Looking at the data the "you" Gaben was last used in Riff Raff three months ago, and the first page of results goes back to more than a year ago.
By comparison, mention of Karoler on the first page of results goes back 6 months.
By all means, I agree with xTSGx in calling out Blubber saying "What happens in Riff Raff stays in Riff Raff" and pointing out he broke that. I'm not saying that you can't hold against it either. But acting like this is still the norm when nothing like this has happened recently (especially given more recent events regarding Gaben's relation with Riff-Raff [for those out of the loop, you can read Loli's comment in the "Who is Milotic" thread" in the results of Gaben's posts])

Joke suspensions are different than legit suspensions, don't count against you're record, and unless you literally made a post on Riff-Raff saying "Ban me for 3 2 days" they are generally only an hour long, when they occur at all. I know I sent you a PM about this already. Again, as I said in the PM, if a legit ban occurred, it is a serious problem and letting us or the Admins know would quickly reverse that and lead to punishment for said mod who preformed said action. Are you really that afraid of being off the site for an hour and getting a non-existent "black mark" on your record, especially given your record isn't even spotless as is?
As for the main points in the thread:
Making threads about users can be tricky territory. Making a joke thread about things a user is kinda known for even if rather mocking them is generally okay, provided, as said above, said user is fine with them. Legit making threads about how users should "kill themselves" and using the defense of "It's in Riff-Raff so it's fine" causes more of a problem.

TBH, I think that if the other mods lock any thread they should provide some reason as to why it was locked.
I agree that you shouldn't need to ask for "can I make a thread/post about this user" but if the focus of the thread is just to mock a single user in a way that just becomes a hateful circle jerk, and said user requests lock, I think it should be locked. Now, if it's about something they seem to legitimately currently believe [Ie. all of a users comments/uploads are about how 9/11 was done by aliens/ women should only be in the kitchen/ make it clear they really like a specific fetish/ post how they want to rape a female in picture/ say how they want to move to Canada after the election etc.] and they don't want to be made fun of for the the thing they made an effort let many people know about (directly or indirectly), then I'm a bit less inclined to say the thread should be locked with user request, unless it seems to cause other problems (see Lisa's KYM-famous "animal kingdom" copy/pasta).
Also, and this is important, if you feel like anther user is harassing you, if you don't let mods know it's hard for us to do anything. If RR crap spills out of RR into legit parts of the site, please let us know about it.
