Lately, when browsing the image gallery, some advertisements, when appearing, cover the entire interface (as seen on the right of the image) as opposed to just the bottom half. The ads go away if I click out of the gallery and go back to the image, but is there a permanent solution to this issue (other than Adblock, as this site forbids the use of ad blockers)?

The site doesn't "forbid" adblockers, but you can exercise the Ghost of Blocked ads by adding these custom filters in uBlock Origin:
