Usual Riff-Raff convention is no locking, but I'd like to remind the other mods that we now have been told explicitly that our powers can (and should) be used to prevent threads like these regardless of the board. Furthermore, this thread keeps getting quasi-necro'd a few days before its auto-lock. Christ.

Bob and I have decided that this warrants a lock. If you disagree, feel free to deliver your arguments to either of us.

Well, for starters the quasi-necros aren't an argument because this is Riff-Raff. If that was one of your reasons for locking this, it's not a good one.

Second, if the exact person this thread is about makes a recent post reading.

Then I don't think she herself receives this thread as a bullying thread. Riff-Raff allows making fun of, but doesn't allow cyberbullying. And tbh, I don't think this really is much of a bullying or public shaming thread considering the first page of the thread and her own posts as well thus far.

So I'm gonna play the safe card: If Lisa herself sends any of us a PM stating that she herself finds this thread either a bullying or public shaming thread, I'm fine with it being locked. But if she's fine with how the thread has been going thus far, then we have no reason to lock it because it's not insulting anyone. If she doesn't send a PM, I'm gonna assume it's the latter by default.

If Particle Mare, Bob, or anyone reading this post, has anything to add to it, just PM any of us instead of continuing in this thread. But yeah I'm unlocking this thread again.

The instructions (if I recall correctly) were plainly and simply "lock threads directed at a specific user". There was no real vagueness to suggest that exceptions could be made based on what the user in question thinks of the thread.

This was said in the IRC quite a while ago, though, so I may be recalling it incorrectly. If anyone has logs, they would be appreciated.

Well, in that case I do suggest we get something more specific written down in the mod forum.

The rule “lock threads directed at a specific user” is so broad and unspecific that we got A LOT of old threads that should've never been fine to begin with. For example: all your shipping threads, Mare. Dig through Memeory Lane and you can find more examples.

I refuse to believe such a non-specific rule can work.

Riff Raff was created so that threads like these could exist, that's why Blubber pushed getting it.

I wasn't appealing to the Riff Raff rules. I was referring to a very recent (within the last month) discussion with Don where he specifically informed a handful of present mods that Riff-Raff rules as they stood were too lenient. Needless to say, Blubber disapproved when he later found out.

Yeah, exactly. A lot of the old Mareposting threads were locked once it was decided that the circlejerking had crossed the line, as you should remember. It's just that a certain thread was the tipping point that finally got the admins on our case.
