which forum is the forum for having a good time?

after recently being told to lurk moar (!!!) by a mod (boo) i took a long look in the mirror and thought "where can a man have fun posting on kym? everything is so serious!"

Here's why no other forum works

General – strict on rules, no goofing off, no funny business. if your thread has the word "general" in it you might have a chance but probably not.

Meme Research – even stricter! aye chihuahua!

Just for Fun – a forum for forum games, hardly a place to talk about general topics in a relaxed, joking manner

Site-related – maybe strictest?

so, kym i pose to your the following questions.

1) Is the KYM userbase large enough to afford more subforums (and is userbase size really relevant to subforums amounts?)

2) If there were more forums added what would you like to see? (The forums we have now have been around since ~2010)

*cough*tikibar*cough*

3) Can I get a hell yeah?

4) Which forum is the forum for having a good time?

1)KYM has a small userbase when you get down to it, even smaller on the forums, so subforums wouldn't ave much of an effect.
2)I think the forums we have already already cover the majority of topics when you get down to it.
3)Fuck no!
4)The majority of people use JFF, so I guess in that respect it's better there. Generally speaking, people who aren't part of the JFF community aren't as well known cough, cough, I don't really like JFF as much, because I don't really think the forum games are all that fun. I much prefer General, where I can actually have conversations with people. So in my opinion, General is the most fun

  1. Just for fun is where you'd want to be.
  2. This is a Site-related thread.
  3. lel

As for your questions,

  1. My thinking is that it's not. Most activity goes on in JFF. It truly is the catchall forum/board.
  2. Something like "Random" where posts don't count and rules don't/hardly matter, and then one for games and such that are not serious but need some structure to thrive.
  3. You may buy a vowel.
  4. You can generally do whatever in JFF short of causing mass hysteria.

Yeah personally I've always thought we should have a no rules board (except for the porn ban because honestly porn boards are the WORST)

A place where people can just post without their threads getting moved >:(

mods can this be done? i remember way WAY back there was a "make new forum" button and it's prolly pretty dusty

It may have been done away with. My title comes specifically for my forum activity, and I don't have the option. The Database Moderators may see it, but it's never really been discussed up to now. It's probably a staff thing.

Also, you can technically ban me whenever. I'm a level below you in power.

We've gotten pretty loose with the rules on JFF compared to how it was in the past. The only things that get locked nowadays are karma whoring (so every thread, lol), attention whoring (birthday threads and whatnot, but still every thread basically), and shitstorms (the ones that escalated a bit too much), plus the ocassional this-isn't-going-anywhere (if we notice people can still work around with it, we commonly leave it open).

Non-existent here, so go with staff only.

when i say mods i mean admins, can one of the more brown nosy mods ask?

also i am excited to know i can ban mods. honestly the only thing the keeps me from banning people all the time is that i can't set time limits on bans. if there was i'd be dishing out 6, 12, and 24 hour bans if any of you nerds tried to give me the business.

The IRC is what you're looking for. It may be full of nerds and weeaboos but it's a good place, perfect to enjoy a few laughs with a bunch of strangers.

irc is tons of fun… when it's not friggin DEAD

4) Which forum is the forum for having a good time?

There isn't too much 'good times' in either JFF or General.
I dream of a different subforum that isn't sort of rule-free or strict but sort of in between.

What JFF should be is only forum games and shitposting. The ideal in between hypothetical subforum should hold all the drawing threads, stickies and actual discussion similar to that of General. In General it is basically specific discussion on a certain topic and periodical great news. Actual discussion is allowed in General, just not to casual like "What do you like to do in winter". There isn't any relaxed discussion other than the IRC, which is really, really stunning because all the relaxed users moved to the IRC and later just vanished. JFF is very fast-paced, immature and cruel while General is sometimes relaxed yet knows to stop being relaxed.

About my hypothetical subforum.

Fairly great sticky threads like the Funny Picture General or the Family Photo threads get buried very often.
I'm fairly sure great artists like Natsuru and the art thread brigade don't want to see threads as LQ as this, this, or this when there is a better alternative by posting it in another subforum without getting forgotten. I know a lot of threads that are sticky are getting lost and forgotten, and shitpost on to purposely get lost forever.

That would be so cool for a little more organization between the carefree and the strict. I think there are a fair amount of people who want a little more order because general conversation on the General Board is somewhat disallowed and the same general conversation on the JFF Board will just be buried or shitposted on.

Here are some examples: Why?! | This hurts too.. | There isn't any shitposting, but people just can't read the instructions.

Meanwhile, something as honorable as this (godspeed BSoD) is merely just a great example of a very intellectual thread getting buried under games and others.

TL;DR There isn't an ideal subforum to hang around in. At least yet. Everything is carefree or too strict. IRC is the only thing that holds casual discussion.

That already shows how long you've been out of it.

Bans (the old Delete Spammer) are now just perma, no mercy, just fucking permabanned. The temporary ban has been replaced by suspension, and suspensions now can be given time limits. The standard is 24 hours, but you can make this as long or as short as you wish based on the offense.

Have fun suspending.
