The first thing I did on this site was make the entry for "In soviet Russia"
Not all newbs are trolls,just alot of them are.
Deadpooling the meme and banning the user is alot more practical than writing a script that somehow sets a timer for people that might or might not be a troll.
Sorry to burst your bubble there.

This thread is now about fanart.

@Hectorius:
Yeah, we discussed this. As Tristan said, not all new users are trolls. It would discourage new users from contributing.

@Tristan:
I'd post some, but it's all rule 34.

don’t let new users make entries

You know that you're already spamming an useless thread where the topic is already discussed in 3, at least, other threads, don't you ?

No, the new users aren't those who spam and trolls.

Can't you see yourself in a mirror ?

If you freaking want to show something we don't care about, like your new pretty username, something about your class, don't freaking post it here !

When you come to the conclusion that you must create a freaking useless thread where you say "Ok, I'm in a bad mood so please mods ban me for a day or I'll have issues of spamming, flooding and trolling here" (What the fuck ????) without thinking for a second that you can, I don't know, NOT COME TO DO THIS ON THIS WEBSITE TO BEGIN WITH! is something that I can't, ever, understand.

Stop seeking for attention just because you think you're between friends in a "small" community and there will be little spam and troll.

Not hard to understand, it seems. But no, noooooo, we have to be tolerant for the youth, innocent sweet youth that do this "for the lulz" ? Right ?

Whoa whoa whoa.

Settle down party people.

While it's nice to see that people are passionate about teh KYM, but we could all use a nice settlin' down.

We're all just people right?

We make mistakes, we're hypocrits, we don't think things through, etc.

The problem with new users is they fall under the following categories.

a) Trolls

b) Too lazy to research

c) Unsure about what to do

d) Trying to force a meme

e) Wizards who get it right as soon as they start

But once the again the old standby for problems rings true.

The solution being worked on.

Until then, let's see if we can out-cool cucumbers.

Sound like a plan?

@Blubber
I was guessing that if we make submissions a privelidge, this will happen.
Groups A-D will be successfully blocked.
Group E will actually make 100 contribs to make their submission. (Most of the time)

Also, can we delete junk entries, not just deadpool them?You know, like Tendertiger, -, and Avatard?

@Blubber

You forgot the last kind of KYM noob:

f) Those who don't know how/are too lazy to search for memes already documented, be they confirmed/still being researched/Deadpool'd.

Also, I'd prefer if we tried being more awesome than Obama:

Also, inb4 This looks shopped.

i never thought i would bring this out, especially on a regular but…. http://selb.us/feri/Flash/%5BZONE%5D_Konata_-_Miniloop.swf
promise, this the last time. I've only changed it twice, any other times were accidents (plus it takes me a while to find a name i'm comfortable with)

To distinguish the noobs from the trolls, the Admins of KYM need to design a survey test that all members are required to take, testing their spelling and grammar skills, their general intelligence, chanspeak and lolspeak usage, and their basic knowledge of how the internet operates. When scored, they will receive a number from 1-150 determined by how well they did on the test. This number will be displayed under the user's username and on their profile.

If they are a noob or a troll, it will be determined by a low score, and will be displayed next to their score.

Also, if they are just a regular and highly intelligent user like me, that will also be displayed, instead of noob or troll.

Hum, The karma system will help seeing trolls and spammers on forums.
The idea of waiting lines before posting another message has been submited too.
For entries, The staff already said that they're working on it.

However, this idea, here, is impossible to make.
A survey test to write for every newcomer ? Simply to access a simple website like this one ? You'll make everybody run away, trolls and simple users alike.

Now the test may seem like a good idea to us, but that's because we won't have to fill them out.

But like Tomberry said, that would make no one want to sign up.

Which isn't good.

Also, "testing their spelling and grammar skills, their general intelligence, chanspeak and lolspeak usage, and their basic knowledge of how the internet operates" through a test will be damn near impossible, especially because it would be fairly easy to cheat on if you have the time and will to do so.

You could simply google the answer to each question.

I think the karma system will work for the troll/spammer problem.

I have to agree with my good friends, Tommy and Blubby, over here. We wouldn't want to discourage new users who have the potential from joining the site. The "Karma System" will work just fine.

Also, since I love you all like a second family, I'm marking everybody up (as much of a kiss-up as I am… I think… lol)!

I was saying that once you are signed up, there will be a link to it on the "Congrats, you're signed up!" page, not while they're signing up.

@Captain Boughs Of Holly
I never said that wouldn't have to take it. I am more than willing to take it. It doesn't have to be a long and horrible test, but more like a 10-15 question quiz that will take around 1 minute to complete.

Maybe it doesn't have to be required though. If you don't take it, it will simply say, "KYM IQ: Not Taken" or something similar.

If a new user doesn't want to take it, he doesn't have to, but when the forums are flaming him for being new, then he can take that to see if he is a troll or if he is just a noob.

Oh, well.

That sounds a little better.

But you'd have to take that idea to the other admins for it to have any chance of being implemented.

Because I know I can't write tests for jack squat.

Alright then. Let's take this question for example:

3. What is a troll?
a) A creature that lives under a bridge and scares people
b) A person that double posts more than once
c) Someone that posts on 4chan
d) A person that posts on a forum in hopes of starting an argument

You said "d." D is incorrent. The correct/closest answer is "C."

Trolling comes in many, many variations, not just posting on a forum. What "D" describes is a Flamewar INSTIGATOR, a type of troll. However, a Troll itself, be definition, is any individual who displays negative behavior for the gratification of evoking a negative reaction from another individual or group.

Inb4 I'm being a jackass.

Obviously all of those CAN be right, but D answers it BEST, just as the directions ask you to do.

Just to help you understand it: A square is always a rectangle, but a rectangle is not always a square.
Just like someone who posts on 4chan may indeed be a troll, but not everyone who posts on 4chan is always trolling.

Inb4 You're a douchebag
