A possible way to "fix" the negative favorites glitch.

We all know that this bug exists and it can't be fixed but there are two possible ways to prevent people from abusing it.

Here are my ideas:

  • Have it where you would have to wait for a certain amount of time to be able to unfavorite an image or video after you first favorited it. This would be similar to what we have for the voting system right now.
  • Have the favorite become permanent once you click it. It would have a confirmation box like what we have for downvotes.

Permanent favoriting of anything is never a good idea. It would just lead to cluttering of users favorites, a bigger problem than the negative favorites.

The First one might work if the wait time is a minute or more. Five seconds would not be enough to deter the most dedicated haters. Putting confirmation on both favorite and unfavoriting would also help.

I don't really know why I suggested favorites being permanent. Maybe I forgot to remove that part from the post before submitting it when I realized it was a bad idea.

Having a wait time of 1 minute may help prevent this.

Also, from what I read from a comment here was that it's against the rules to give something a negative favorite and may result in a ban.
