It'd be a simple counter with a bar for 'XP till next level' that would appear on the profile. I see this applied on a lot of gaming sites (obvious ones being Gamespot and 1up) which creates a lot of dedicated users. Every time someone gains a like/point of karma they'd go up in experience. Additionally posting an image/video/entry would add a set amount of experience. There's already counters for most of these things already set up, so those numbers could be combined into some kind of experience system, which would be weighted since entries naturally deserve more XP than comments. Since there are already titles and a piechart of various activities on the profiles I figure a leveling system would put KYM's account system over the top and likely attract numerous new users.

"Additionally posting an image/video/entry would add a set amount of experience.".
I don't like this part, some people would only post stuff to get experience, resulting in possible spam.
Epyc, we told you before and we're telling you again. What you want =/= what we need.

Thats a horrible idea

It's a suggestion thread. If you don't like it, then ignore it. or at least call it spam. Although, I think that's a stretch.
Second, who's going to suggest something they personally don't want? If he thinks it's a good idea, then he should pose it. Then it's up to community to say why it can't work, how to make it work, or if it could work as it is.

…not to tell him to not post what he thinks are good ideas.
But as Slaanesh said, it would need some tweaking if the idea was implemented. You can get a lot of spammy uploads and entries for people wanting to get to certain levels. And with the updated emphasis on proper tagging and sourcing, I think adding a leveling system would encourage mass uploads for the sake of a title instead of decent uploads. Quantity over quality.
And I don't think that KYM needs to be put "over the top," does it? It still has a ton of Facebook likes and probably gets plenty of pageviews as it is. And I don't think the administration or moderatorship is lacking so much that it's needing to recruit and retain committed users. I think checking the requirements to get a title via the thread is enough. It's there for information but it isn't a compulsive reminder that you can have a more prestigious title.
Given how our badges system is still woefully underused, I'd rather see something like that fleshed out more before we start discussion on a much more complicated system such as this.
Not to forget that in the end it's the staff who have to add this system, and I doubt they have the time to think of a detailed list of exp-related contributions and their value.
It's simply not something we should aim for atm, especially given how subjectively useless this is. Users aren't motivated intro contributing by the titles already, so I doubt an XP system will motivate them any more.

He throws in ideas the second they pop up in his head. The board isn't active enough to consider things spam, but to say he thinks his ideas through would be a stretch.
Odds are he's doing this due to a recent warning he received; trying to be put in a good spotlight again and all that. Loli's comment wasn't necessary, but I can't blame him for being annoyed.
Yeah, the badge system is terribly underused, rather than just add a completely new system (Highly unllikely to even happen), which to be honest just seems like a recipe for disaster, I can already see all the softcore porn going wild just for users wanting to get "XP" to inflate their egos with fancy titles instead of actually trying to contribute,in my opinion, the new title system is rewarding enough and it actually shows you are contributing as far as a regular users is able to
Plus, what would happen if you get downvoted? You lose XP? Lol…Terrible idea

If you get downvoted you should gain troll levels alongside the normal ones.

That completely takes away the point of downvotes and instead turns downvotes in a reward system, thus promoting people to act like degenerates and gather them, while legit retards who deserve downvotes are now suddenly praised.
This is legit a bad idea.

That's just really dumb and promotes harassment of users.
Why do we need an Exp. system when we already have something similiar. Those titles don't earn themselves you know…
Dude, people freak out over karma points that barely mean anything. How much worse do you think people will react if we add xp points actually ment something?

This is one of the worst ideas I have ever read.

Given that the voting system has been known to tax the site's performance I doubt adding another system for it to be actively tracking is a good idea.
As if we didn't have enough drama related to custom titles/badges as it is.
