Since the site already has code in place for upvoting and downvoting posts, comments, videos, images, etc, I believe it would be reasonable to code and beneficial to have upvotes and downvotes for entries because it'd get more people involved in entries by knowing they can upvote and downvote them. Favoriting across all images and videos is significantly less popular to do than upvoting, which is another reason why there should be the option to upvote/downvote next to the favorites button. This would also give an excuse to add another couple sections for people to explore under the 'MEMES' tab of this site: 'Most liked', and 'Least Liked', as is already available for images and videos.

Thoughts on this idea?

Comments, videos, images, and posts, are all constants. Once they're made/uploaded, they can't be changed, and the votes reflect upon that which it was from the beginning and will remain forever.

Entries are variables, they can change over time, including their contents and quality. Any vote given to an entry during a period where it looked like shit will incorrectly reflect upon the entry after it got fixed or updated. You can't correctly vote for something like that.

That makes sense.

So what if entries were given the upvote and downvote option after being confirmed? It'd be a nice sign of prestige and give the most-viewed entries (which will naturally be the confirmed ones) upvotes/downvotes which reflect community opinion.

Voting would discourage new users from submitting an entry. Even if it's shit, it's still useful to the DB if it's an actual meme. It would also discourage the submission of controversial entries for fear of downvote sprees.
