Gametheory made a video called Mario is mental, the video is about why Mario is not a good guy.
everyone in the comments are hating on Mario, and some are saying that they won't buy Mario's games any more. people always bring up the Mario is mental theory on almost every Mario related video, such as Racist Mario, Games you didn't know had lyrics, Top 10 facts about Mario that you didn't know etc…, and it gets bloody annoying.
So do you think that MatPat (GameTheory) has killed the Mario franchise?, or at least hurt it a little?

But seriously,
MatPat didn't kill mario.

Well, those gametheory fans have become cancer, they spam the Mario is mental theory on a ton of Mario related videos, pictures, forums, blogs etc.., and it gets bloody annoying.
I wish they would shut the hell up, but they don't, they tell everyone about it, and some believe them and join the Mario hate bandwagon, some don't, those people are rare on youtube, but I am pretty sure youtube commenters are in the minority.
but those faggot gametheory fans are spreading, and it is getting painful.

It's definitely not Game Theory that is killing the franchise. It's Nintendo's reluctance to characterize the poor guy.
Oh, and Miyamoto forgetting to teach everyone how to inject Soul into the franchise when he made preparations to allow the main games to be made when he retires. (Talking about post-galaxy 2 Mario. Some levels of 3D world got that back, but for god sakes Nintendo start making organic Mario environments again and not the blocky prefab BS.)
> Watching Game Theory and not noticing how one-sided the videos are.
Are you going you going to believe Game Theory? The same people who said Sonic is slower than Mario because the games can't replicate the speed of sound?
Seriusly?

But the people who watch game theory aren't Mario's only demographic, casuals won't see the video, and it's in English so people in other countries (at least the ones who don't speak English) won't see it either. And even if you watch it, the whole thing is kind of a joke and doesn't really effect whether or not you'll play Mario/Nintendo games.
So… people actually take gametheory seriously?
This won't make any impact at all. This will not become a major movement. I'm honestly not even sure if OP is serious.
I've seen this shit sadly. That video is brought up in nearly everything. It's one of the reasons I can't watch GameTheory anymore. I know very well that nearly every episode isn't meant to be taken seriously in the slightest, but that's just the reason I don't enjoy the channel very much and the fan-tards don't know that at all. Like, most of the videos are utterly pointless, so pointless that they actually suck the fun out of things, and the point of the videos are to be silly fun. Like, some of their theories can be answered with one sentence. I don't think it's very entertaining to watch them solve a massive math problem for 15 minutes as slow and as detailed as they possibly can and all I can think about is that it doesn't fucking matter. Like "Can the moon from Majora's Mask cause any real damage?" Yeah, because video games. I don't give a shit. "Can bullet bills really cause damage?" Again, it's Mario. No one cares. "Is Sonic really fast?" Yes, because he's goddamn Sonic. It's just boring to me. Sorry if this is only semi-related, but I just don't like channels like this personally. Some other examples of channels that do similar things are ScrewAttack with their Death Battles and CinemaSins. They look into every last detail for absolutely no reason and pick things dry of any fun they originally had and try to pass it off as fun and not to be taken seriously.
So, back to the cancerous fans, they are cancer. Not much to be said about them. They treat these theories as if they're scientific theories. Only about 1% of them have any real weight to them like the Majora's Mask Grief thing, which is still pretty far-fetched, but at least it makes some sense. These fans probably have brain cells in the negatives. Oh yeah, and to answer your question, of course not. They may be popular, but them and a few thousand cancerous tumors they call fans aren't nearly enough to topple the biggest game franchise on the planet.
@Sam
I basically share the same thoughts on those types of videos. I really love videos that get super analytical about the media they love (or the media they hate) but stuff like that just feels uninteresting and a half assed attempt at entertainment
On topic now, I think one thing to really keep in mind here is internet popularity vs. real life popularity. As much as video games and internet mix, internet "celebrities" aren't the household names we tend to think they are. Ask yourself a question: How many people know of the Mario franchise? Your parents? Small children? Teens? Adults? Mario at this point is the definition of a household name, practically everyone that knows video games exist knows Mario exists. Now ask yourself: How many people know of the Game Theorists? Mostly teens and young adults? Maybe a few older and younger audience members thrown in? Your mom most likely wouldn't know who you were talking about if you dropped their name in conversation. Hell, more people than you think don't even know who PewDiePie is. Game Theory's videos hit about 4 mil tops. Considering how large the english speaking population is, that's not a very large percentage. I'm rambling a bit, but my point is Game Theory's popularity can't even put a scratch on Mario's. Even if this could be considered a legit threat the population's dedication to Mario would stop it in its tracks.

Most of GameTheory's fans are just Dumbass kids that will believe anything on the internet.
I know Game a Theory is mainly a joke but a lot of evidence used in the Fallout: New Vegas headshot theory is just plain wrong.
Hahaha, no way is this going to put a single dent in the popularity of Mario.
On the damage scale, this is a bb pellet hitting an rhino's left butthcheek
I bet you most of those people you saw claiming to never play a Mario game again are:
- Going to play it again
- Trolling
Over-analysing the universe of Mario to the point of making it sound horrible and cruel (EG: comparing it to drug addiction, pointing out the grim implications of bottomless pits, pointing out the implications of Bowsers power and real influence on Peach) has actually been done to death. Gametheory is by no means the first to do this
Just check out how much dirt that Cracked.com has on Mario well before gametheory said a word and even Cracked.com was late to all the jokes
But at the end of it all, it's non-canon over-analysis made for entertainment and real fans see that. Mario is still the light-hearted effeminate Italian everyone knows despite what Youtube videos say

Oh I see know, I will just ignore the stupid kids that spout MatPat's theory's across the internet.
Thanks for this though.
I my opinion……

It doesn't help that Mario has been on the brunt end of the accusations of being an asshole and an assassin. If you hang on the fanbase of Mario games, then you probably know at least one of these "facts":
• Mario abuses his brother Luigi constantly.
• The creatures Mario kills(Goombas, Koopas, etc.) are all defenseless.
What irritates me is that they don't have anything to back their statments. Other than the scene where Luigi wins in Mario Tennis and Mario rubs his feet, Nintendo has never shown Mario to be mistreatful to Luigi – in fact, in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Mario is shown to care very much about Luigi, such as in the scene where he rescues him from goop in Bowser's intestines(and the result is heartwarming), and when he defends Luigi when Starlow pokes fun at him.
And then we get to the second "fact", the worst offender. They don't seem to know that the enemies are Bowser's minions. They attack and invade Toad Town and Peach's Castle to kidnap the princess constantly. Really, is it that hard to see? And besides, if you touch them, they can and will attack you, it's not like you'd phase through them because they're "harmless". And then GameTheory comes and makes the Anti-Marioism three times bigger. *sigh*
People take GameTheory way to seriously. After that "Pyro is a gay man" theory, you can't find a discussion on The Pyro's gender that doesn't have some moron screaming at everyone else in the forum that "UR AWL STEWPED! PRYO IZ GEY MEN! IZ FACTS! GEMTHARY SEZ SO!". Some people just take every crazy theory that they espouse as absolute, undeniable fact.

I truly believe Pyro is a Hiroshima survivor. He/she never takes off their gas mask to hide their deformed appearance, and repression of bad memories led to the creation of Pyroland.
I'm betting my 300,000 credits that his video's comment section is killing the Mario franchise. And i'm not going to bother getting a screenshot since youtube's comment section is shit since time immemorial.

Oh yeah
show the evidence
EDIT: I'm surprised no one has up Mat Pat's other Mario theories like that Roalina is the child of Peach and Mario (or Luigi is you watched the end of part 2 of that particular answer), meaning Peach is dead.
The problem about GameTheory is that he takes his "theories" and basically presents them as fact. That's my biggest gripe. If it's "just a theory" present it like a fucking theory.
