Yesterday, we got our nominees for The Games Awards 2014, and I'm disappointed at the choices. However, most of you guys are in it for the previews. IGN just reported that Batman Arkham Knight may air a trailer during the show. Without further ado, the big awards are:

GOTY:

Bayonetta 2
Dark Souls II
Dragon Age: Inquistion
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Developer of the Year:

Blizzard
Monolith
Nintendo
Telltale
Ubisoft Montreal

Indie Game of the Year:

Broken Age: Act I
Monument Valley
Shovel Knight
Transistor
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

Most Anticipated Game:

Batman: Arkham Knight
Bloodbourne
Evolve
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Other awards include Game For Change, Best ESports Gamer, Best Fan Creation, etc.

Full list: http://thegameawards.com/nominees/

Are you surprised at the nominations?
What game will win?
What game should win?
What game(s) don't deserve a nomination?
What game(s) got robbed?
Will you watch or did the VGX leave a bad taste in your mouth that made you not care anymore?

TGAs on 12/5 on Twitch and other live streaming sites.

Yeah, there's no fucking way Hearthstone got on here without some hefty bribery. It's a freemium game that's so heavily promoted that I've seen banner ads for it more often than I've seen people actually talking about playing it.

Where's proof that bribes were involved? Take off your tin foil hat.

GOTY is actually really hard to decide for me. I've had boatloads of fun playing Shadow of Mordor, Bayonetta 2 seems pretty great, Dark Souls 2 is baller (but not Dark Souls baller).

Also, why is Uncharted 4 on the anticipated games? Are we anticipating it to be Uncharted 4: Drake dies this time (put us out of our misery)? Are we expecting Ubisoft to win best developer?

But otherwise the choices seem pretty alright. I most likely won't watch the VGX because capital is going to decide the winner. However, the nominees don't seem to bad.

I have to ask, where is Pre-Sequel? Haven't played it, but I've only heard good things.

Borderlands: Pre-Sequel didn't get as good reviews as its predecessors. Game felt unnecessary.

Well Valve is apart of the board of Advisers for the Awards. I can't wait to see what their new title for 2015. (Hopefully Ricohet 2 or that sequel of that game we have been waiting for since its last title seven years ago.)

who cares?

Game: I'm tied between Darksouls 2 and Bayonetta 2.
Dev: Nintendo Hands Down
Indy Game: Shovel Knight
Best Mobile Game: Smash Run The Game Super Smash Bros 4 3DS
Best Narrative: n/a (haven't played any of these)
Best Soundtrack: n/a (huh. I thought Bravely Default would have made that list)
Best Performance: n/a (another case where I haven't played any of these)
Games for Change: n/a (wut)
Best Remaster: Going with Pokemon OSAR. Because as far as visual upgrades go, well… this is the only game that has MORE than a single generation gap between the remasterings and adds more content.
Best Shooter: n/a (Eh. Just not a fan of most shooters.)
Best Action/Adventure: Bayonetta 2
Best RPG: Darksouls 2 for RPG and Bravely Default for JRPG (What the hell? Quick rant here: Split up RPGs and JRPGs. They are completely different genres)
Best Fighting Game: Super Smash Bros fro Wii U, no Contest.
Best Family Game: Mario Kart 8
Best Sports/Racing Game: Mario Kart 8
Best Online Experience: Darksouls 2

I hope Geoff Knightly gets hired as a security guard, keeping an eye of that family restaurant while eating Doritos, drinking Dew and playing Halo 4.

In the meantime, here are my votes and deservations
GoTY (More like FANTASY GOTY)): Bayonetta 2, Dark Souls II, Shadow of Mordor
Developer: Monolith, Nintendo, Telltale
Indie: Broken Age, Shovel Knight, Transistor
Handheld (THEY INCLUDE NOMS THAT CONTAINS IAPS): Bravely Default, SSB4
G4C: Left Behind, This War of Mine, Valiant Hearts
Remaster (4 Next-Gen): Either of these except Halo MCC (Fix that MP, 343)
Action/Adventure: Alien, Bayonetta 2, Shadow of Mordor
RP: Bravely Default, Dark Souls II, Divinity, South Park: SoT
Fight: SUPER SMASH BROS 4
Family: Mario Kart 8
Sports/Racing: Mario Kart 8
Online XP: 404 SERVER NOT FOUND

In conclusion, they are worse than Grammys!

According to Wikiped, "Card packs and entry to the Arena can be purchased with gold, an in-game currency rewarded for completing randomized daily quests and winning matches, or by using real money in the in-game store."
using real money in the in-game store

And from TV Tropes…

Bribing Your Way to Victory:
•It's a Collectible Card Game, so this is unavoidable since a rich player can buy lots of booster packs, but there are some mechanics in place to mitigate it: You can earn cards (more slowly) through regular playing and completing daily challenges, and you're limited to no more than two of any particular card per deck. As it stands, money can only buy booster packs, whose contents are determined randomly anyway, and easier access to the Curse of Naxxaramas wings, though these are also purchasable with gold and the card rewards have to be earned anyways. So while money can get you options, it can't directly buy you power.

•Averted with Arena mode, where players must choose from 3 random heroes and construct their decks from a pre-set list of cards, eliminating any advantage from grinding or paying for great cards for fairness' sake. The only advantage a player can get is through experience with the game.

•Worth noting is that, as stated under Boring but Practical, it's possible to actually make a pretty decent deck with the cards you start out with. Essentially the neutral Basic collection is full of simple, no frills cards with easy to understand effects, whereas Expert cards are more situational and strategic. People can (and have) made competitive decks using only Basic cards, but they don't tend to have any complex strategies or combos like the Expert level decks do.

Best Performance In A Game: Trey Parker as Lots-of-Voices (South Park: Stick of Truth)
Best Online Experience: Destiny
Best Soundtrack: Destiny

I was expecting a Bayo victory, playing it is a religious experience. Havent played DA:I tho, did it earn that GOTY title?

Yes, DA: Inquisition won GOTY, but lots of people are complaining about the game winning because it was:

1. Published by EA.
2. Buggy.
3. Pandered to SJW by allowing a LGBT relationship.

I truly hate haters.
