Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 1.1 update removes an arm gesture used by Inkling Girl that's considered an "up yours/fuck you" gesture in some European countries

The gesture in question being this:

Now to Americans this looks like the "Rosie the Riveter" pose but it turns out that in some European countries this pose is called the Bras d'honneur , a gesture that means the same thing as "fuck you" or "up yours."

Basically a case of including something that's considered fine to people in some countries but considered "not fine" in others. Reminds me of how Left 4 Dead 2 had to have its boxart changed in the UK because the "sticking up two fingers on a backward facing hand" gesture, seen as perfectly fine in most countries, is actually a way to say "fuck you" in the UK.

I don't think that's entirely a European thing. I've seen it before in American media, though not as often as the middle finger. It's kind of funny to see an Inkling do it, but her expression makes it seem more like an expression of strength than an insult.

So is the peace sign when the palm is inward facing. I don't think you'll find too many hand gestures that don't have a negative connotation somewhere in the world. Even the ok sign is in the Mediterranean and South America (indicating you're "zero" or worthless or representing an asshole).
