In what appears to be an edgy joke, the game HEARTBEAT along side it's soundtrack has gone on sale for 42% off in what appears to be a joke mocking trans suicide figures as discussed in this ResetEra thread

Based on the information given, I feel that ResetEra does have a point with this being tasteless, especially given it was originally 41%, but what do the rest of you guys think

I don't know what to say except that's pretty nasty. I hope at least the devs break the usual cycle and apologize instead of digging themselves a deeper hole.

Looks like this is one of those "broken clock" situations where ResetEra is actually right for once. Looking at what the dev tweeted, yeah the sale percentage being that number specifically just screams "3edgy5me."

Also I thought this game sounded familiar so I checked it turns out Nitro Rad did a video promoting the game back in 2017, but the link to the video now lists it as private. I think he became aware of what the devs were doing and privated the video because he doesn't want to be associated with them anymore.

Also I made the mistake of reading the replies in that archived tweet and now all I can taste is bile. There's enough edge in there to cut a man in half.

(100-58.5)/100=0.415

0.415 could be rounded up or down giving us either 41% or 42%. If I had to guess I'd say Valve does the rounding and not the Dev. Resetera is probably reading too much into this

From what I can gather from second-hand accounts, the Jim you're hearing about is the youtuber/bitchuter "MisterMetokur" apparently, In a recent stream he talked about the first part of this controversy (the "gf says transphobic things on twitter" part.) People are also saying that he proceeded to dare the devs to put the game on sale for 41%, but I can't say for sure; I can't find any backups of the stream.
Also, why are you people taking Restera at face value, they're biased as fuck.

While there is certainly an argument to be made that the 41% discount is in reference to that data, I'm not 100% convinced that this is actually the case.

I think this is looking too much into things tbh. I'm not sure if the devs are actually asshats (so far that seems to be hearsay), but orchestrating things so that the bundle's deal falls in line with a rather obscure statistic makes me think this is just ResetERA trying to project its petty malice on to others.

They have their panties in a bunch because the developer's girlfriend doesn't like transgender people. Not the developer himself, or anyone on his team. Someone completely unrelated to the game's development said some transphobic stuff on twitter.

I thought Kotaku was bad until I discovered Resetera.
