TMNT: Shredder's Revenge announced, is a 16-bit beat-em-up based on the 80s cartoon, developed by people who also made the Scott Pilgrim game

Pretty clear the main inspiration here are the classic TMNT games that Konami used to make back in the 80s and 90s, even down to the game being outright based on the 1987 cartoon rather than the more recent TMNT shows or comics. The dev team behind the game includes people who also worked on the Scott Pilgrim game (which finally got as re-release recently), so it sounds like it's in good hands. And fun fact, the guy singing the theme song in this trailer is none other than Mike Patton of Mr. Bungle and Faith No More fame.

The trailer animation reminds of the Battletoads (2020) artstyle, franchise that also had very difficult beat 'em ups back in the 90's and was also recently resurrected.

I hope it isn't bad like Battletoads though, not like it would affect me since it seems my standards are very low.

This is a pleasant surprise. I initially believed it'd be a cartoon or a movie of sorts but upon seeing in action, it feels like an actual sequel to Turtles In Time. Gonna check out this one, indeed.

MFW I get to look forward to a retro-inspired beat em up in the vein of the games I loved and enjoyed in my childhood
