Looks like it's gonne set in a near future, too bad isn't like the sequel to BF 2142.
The downside it's that i felt that they churned too many BF games in the last years, so player community splits everytime a new game it's out.

So going the Black Ops 2 and 3 route? With the rumors the next CoD might be set in WW2 it definitely seems like military shooters are now in "shuffle mode" when it comes to the setting. First WW2, then modern, then near and far future, and as of 2016-2017 it just shifts around time periods like Dr. Who.

It's safe to say the visuals and sound quality will be top notch because DICE is still pretty consistently good on those fronts, but still people had mixed feelings about BFV so best to just wait and see.

Nah incording to the leaks and screenshots the "Near Future" here actually more MW3 or BF4 style (taking every new gun and experimental military project and running with it without going full sci fi)

You know, I kinda wish this was set in the far future like a sequel to 2142 or something entirely different.

Given what the team wanted to do with Battlefield 5, but had to cut back on due to the backlash, I think an entirely fictional setting would be best.

It's quite clear that the team just want to let loose and allow their creativity to run wild and a setting set in an advanced time period would let them do just that.

But hell, as long as they let me strap an entire squad's supply of C4 to a jeep from the get-go instead of having to patch it in later again, I'll be happy.

Funny you say that, when i was a kid i played the first C&C and that stuff looked like the future, now i look at it and seems obsolete tech (without of course some exceptions)

Especially when EA & the devs raised the flames to the dumpster fire even higher by treating gamers like crap over criticism. Instead of listening to the criticism, they antagonize the gamers even more with the "women in gaming" technique.

Well, if there is to be a Battlefield game that could feasibly have female soldiers in it without breaking immersion, a futuristic setting would be it (even modern settings could do). Heck, futuristic settings could feasibly star soldiers with prosthetic limbs, depending how far in the future and/or how fast you think technology could advance.

I just read that the game wont feature classes anymore but 'heros'/specialist, what BS is this…

From what i read its seems to mostly be fluff

They are pretty much just the normal classes but with pointless backstories and stuff because DICE just could not resist from following the leader like COD and Rainbow Six (ironic because the original classes had canonical names too) i don't think its gonna have much impact on the whole game

It's EA. Aping whatever the latest hotness on the market is is pretty much all they've ever known how to do.

I’m bummed that there won’t be a single player campaign, yeah Battlefield is all about the multiplayer and experiences it can give but I kinda want a single player campaign to cleanse your pallet or to destress. I just hope EA doesn’t fuck this one up like they did with Battlefield 5 or EA Battlefront 1 and 2. I have hope this’ll be good but I’m cautiously optimistic that it’ll be as good as Battlefield 4 or Battlefield 1. Here’s to hoping Neebs and his crew get together to make a Battlefield Friends season for this one.

Me too its kinda sad that they got through the trouble of making lore about the setting of the game but chickening out from making a campaign

I would like to take back what i said here 4 days ago this game seems to follow the BO2&3 approuch to " Near Future" instead of the MW3 BF4 one (although not quuuiiite like it because it lacks down right sci fi stuff)

Apperantly there is some broken telephone game going on about the status of classes on the game
