A bit surprising tbh, I figured so long as Platinum stayed its own independent entity that Kamiya would stay there, but I guess he really wants to go freelance now.

Scalebound beign canceled and not wanting to be always associated to Bayonetta may be the case, but I suppose it's all just, at the end of the day, a desire to expand his ideas elsewhere, anywhere.

I know his reason for leaving Capcom back in the 00s was because he felt he didn't have enough creative freedom working under them, I guess maybe he felt the same at Platinum even if the company itself is still independent. IIRC Sakurai also originally left HAL Labs because he wanted to do more besides Kirby and Smash Bros, though we know he ultimately couldn't leave the latter behind.
The only real concern for Platinum is if this means the "Project GG" game that Kamiya was directing is cancelled or not (all we know about the project is it's supposed to be a superhero game styled after Ultraman).
