About

Adele is the mononym of Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, a British singer/songwriter. She rose to fame after the release of the song "Rolling in the Deep" from her second studio album 21.

Online History

Adele registered a Myspace account[4] to host MP3s of her recordings on December 31st, 2004. Her official website, Adele.tv[5], was registered on September 13th, 2007. She started a YouTube[6] account on April 4th, 2008, where she receives over 12,500 views a day. The first post on her official Facebook page[2] was made on January 25th, 2011. As of February 2012, it has over 18 million likes. On Last.fm[16], Adele has over 1.6 million listeners and her tracks have been played over 59 million times.

On Twitter

The Twitter account, @OfficialAdele[3], was created on August 30th, 2010. As of February 2012, nearly 4 million users follow the account though she only has 140 tweets. The initial tweets from the account were posted by an assistant beginning on September 14th, 2010. For nearly a year, Adele had no interaction with the account until December 4th, 2011 when she announced[7] she would take the account over if 10,000 people followed @drop4drop[8], an English non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean water to countries without it. The next day, the follower goal was hit and she tweeted a photo of herself posing with a photo of Beyonce. Her Twitter takeover was covered on E! Online[9], She Knows Entertainment[10], and the Huffington Post.[11]

On January 28th, 2012, RIP Adele was a trending topic on Twitter.[12] This death hoax was proven untrue by the International Business Times[13] and Gossip Cop.[14]

Personal Life

Adele Adkins was born on May 5th, 1988 in Tottenham, North London, England.[1] Her career began after a friend posted her demo on Myspace.[15] After hearing those three songs, record label XL Recordings contacted her, setting her up with manager Jonathan Dickins in June 2006 and a record deal in September 2006. Her first record, 19, came out on January 28th, 2008 in the UK and June 10th, 2008 in the US. The record lead to 2 Grammy Awards in 2009. Her second record, 21, was released on January 24th, 2011 in the UK and February 22nd in the US, for which she won six Grammy Awards.

KYM documents people if:
-That person(s) is relevant towards the creation of one or more memes (Giorgio A Tsoukalos, Joseph Ducruex)
-That person(s) is widely known throughout the internet and has memetic fame/infamy (Skrillex, Ron Paul)
-That person(s) is a meme itself (Chuck Norris, Chuck Testa, Chris Hansen)

Adele is…someone. I have never heard of this person until now. You tell me if she fits one of the above.
