Adele is the mononym of Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, a British singer/songwriter. She rose to fame after the release of the song "Rolling in the Deep" from her second studio album 21.
Online History
Adele registered a Myspace account[4] to host MP3s of her recordings on December 31st, 2004. Her official website, Adele.tv[5], was registered on September 13th, 2007. She started a YouTube[6] account on April 4th, 2008, where she receives over 12,500 views a day. The first post on her official Facebook page[2] was made on January 25th, 2011. As of February 2012, it has over 18 million likes. On Last.fm[16], Adele has over 1.6 million listeners and her tracks have been played over 59 million times.
On Twitter
The Twitter account, @OfficialAdele[3], was created on August 30th, 2010. As of February 2012, nearly 4 million users follow the account though she only has 140 tweets. The initial tweets from the account were posted by an assistant beginning on September 14th, 2010. For nearly a year, Adele had no interaction with the account until December 4th, 2011 when she announced[7] she would take the account over if 10,000 people followed @drop4drop[8], an English non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean water to countries without it. The next day, the follower goal was hit and she tweeted a photo of herself posing with a photo of Beyonce. Her Twitter takeover was covered on E! Online[9], She Knows Entertainment[10], and the Huffington Post.[11]

On January 28th, 2012, RIP Adele was a trending topic on Twitter.[12] This death hoax was proven untrue by the International Business Times[13] and Gossip Cop.[14]
Personal Life
Adele Adkins was born on May 5th, 1988 in Tottenham, North London, England.[1] Her career began after a friend posted her demo on Myspace.[15] After hearing those three songs, record label XL Recordings contacted her, setting her up with manager Jonathan Dickins in June 2006 and a record deal in September 2006. Her first record, 19, came out on January 28th, 2008 in the UK and June 10th, 2008 in the US. The record lead to 2 Grammy Awards in 2009. Her second record, 21, was released on January 24th, 2011 in the UK and February 22nd in the US, for which she won six Grammy Awards.
