Backpack Kid's Genius "Flossin" Performance, also known as I Be Flossin', refers to a video of the Backpack Kid, noted for popularizing the dance The Floss, singing his lyrics to his song "Flossin." In one part of the video, he sings the lyrics "I be flossin'" repeatedly, which has been used in numerous remixes.
Origin
Backpack Kid grew famous after doing the "Floss" dance as part of Katy Perry's SNL Performance in May of 2017. The dance, and by extension Backpack Kid, grew popular enough that he was able to release a single based on the dance (shown below, left). On December 30th, 2018, Genius posted a video of Backpack Kid explaining the lyrics to his song "Flossin." In the video, he sings the phrase "I be flossin'" repeatedly. The video gained over 1 million views on YouTube (shown below).
Spread
The video was quickly remixed in numerous videos. In early January 2019, the video has been used in different remixes and memes on YouTube and Instagram. Some popular examples include a mix by user Pepega that gained over 30,000 views (shown below, left) and a video by manjobanjo57 that gained over 21,000 views (shown below, right).
The video gained significant popularity after it was mocked by PewDiePie alongside other Genius videos, including Gabbie Hannah's and Doja Cat's. PewDiePie's video gained over 7.4 million views (shown below).
