Brawl Stars OST Battle 2, or Brawl Stars Battle 2, refers to a song present in the freemium multiplayer mobile game known as Brawl Stars^[1], which was further used in shitposts, usually with the music being distorted. It was used in various memes originating from /r/okbuddyretard, usually paired with a robust caption.

Origin

During March of 2018, Finnish video game company Supercell released an update for their game Brawl Stars^[2], which caused much controversy in the Brawl Stars community, and alongside that update, it brought various new features to the game, including new soundtracks, specifically OST 2. Brawl Stars OST 2 was a modified version of a already existing soundtrack known in the game files as 02_hoiuseedit01, with a more modern approach to the soundtrack.

On March 10 2018, Davide Palma uploaded the soundtrack to Youtube, with the video having over 44,000 views as of Februrary 2019.

On August 20 2018, /u/Youper88 submitted a cross-post to the /r/Brawlstars subreddit, titled "Brawl Stars soundtrack memes?"^[3], gaining 14 upvotes and 1 comment.

The poster of the meme in the crosspost, now deleted, submitted a post to the /r/okbuddyretard subreddit on August 19 2018 titled "father is in prison ;(( I have to deal with libtard mom for next 7 years. i need help!!! !!! !!!! ! !"^[4]. It gained over 1,200 upvotes and 45 comments, being 98% upvoted. Now archived, this post is believed to be one of the earliest instances of the meme.

/u/Youper88 began posting various examples of the meme to the /r/okbuddyretard subreddit, usually with a dance over text using the soundtrack in a distorted manner. "thanks mom"^[5] and "guys father died in prison. bitch mommy took away xbox. i will give you her credit card information if you send help!!"^[6] both gained a significant amount of upvotes.

They then posted the first instance of the meme to the /r/pyrocynical subreddit, with the post gaining 212 upvotes and 6 comments, titled "Father is in prison"^[7].

On August 26 2018, Instagram user @cyranek_ posted an example of the meme to their Instagram, titled ""mom pls"^[8], gaining over 17,000 views and 2,200 likes. It is believed to be the first large exposure of the meme.

Late 2018 Revival

Brawl Stars OST Battle 2 memes have been observed on Instagram meme pages as of December 2018. On December 11 2018, @troll.memes.iraqi posted an Arabic Irony meme, using the soundtrack alongside the meme. The post gained 329 views and 51 likes.

@troll.memes.iraqi began using the soundtrack in a large portion of their memes. They began using it in Arabic Irony, then switched to using it in shitposts, usually with the music being distorted.

On February 2 2019, @cleveland._feels posted a meme to their Instagram account using the OST 2 soundtrack, titled "Ok imma sleep now". The post gained over 6,000 views and 1,300 likes.
