About

Carrying Your Love or I'm Carrying Your Love With Me is a song and TikTok audio sample created by the country fusion musician David Morris in the summer of 2022. Originally released in 1997 by George Strait, Morris' 2022 cover became a viral musical trend in which TikTokers use the song's chorus while showing things that they love in their life, both genuine and sarcastic or ironic in nature.

Origin

On June 1st, 2022, the country musician David Morris uploaded the lyric video and release of the song "Carrying Your Love" to his YouTube channel,[1] where it gained 61,000 views in one month. The song, which itself features an audio sample by country music legend Steve Bogard, who wrote the first version of "Carrying Your Love" that George Strait released in 1997, was not initially viral on first release (shown below).

On June 13th, 2022, David Morris uploaded the audio sample to his official TikTok[2] channel with the caption reading, "When you get permission to sample one of your all time fav country songs," showing David dancing in his truck while drinking and wearing a bald eagle shirt and backward camo hat (shown below).

Spread

The audio from the song quickly became a trend on TikTok over the following weeks in which users would mention someone or something that they love and miss, then show what they do or have that reminds them of the person, in essence, "carrying your love" with them. TikToker diehl.with.it[3] took this to a literal sense on July 18th, 2022, with their TikTok in which they talked about missing their husband before showing that their pregnancy is them "carrying love with them," gaining over 135,000 likes in one week (shown below).

The format grew with people starting to post videos of their dogs and other pets, while the love that they are carrying is referenced by the fur and hair that the pets leave behind. This can be seen in the TikTok created by user ourgoldenbros[4] on July 17th, 2022, in which the hair of the golden retrievers can be seen plainly on their clothes before cutting to a picture of the dog with the lyrics being framed around them, earning over 735,000 likes in a week (shown below).

The Nashville Sound was one of the worst things to happen to music, because it gave us Country Pop and Country Pop is the worst thing to happen to music.

Adding tik-tok to the mix just makes it intolerable.
