Cast In Knives Out 2 refers to parodies of announcements that high-profile actors will be joining the cast in the sequel to Rian Johnson's comedy-mystery film Knives Out. The parodies started in May of 2021, following announcements that actors Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, and Janelle Monae had joined the cast.

Origin

In early May of 2021, several high-profile actors were announced to be joining the cast of Knives Out 2. The week of May 10th, Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monae and Kathryn Hahn were announced to have landed a role in the film.^[1] On May 12th, parodies of the major announcements started spreading on Twitter. One of the more popular tweets from that day came from @DanaSchwartzzz,^[2] gaining over 30 retweets and 1,500 likes with a parody announcement (shown below).

Spread

Parodies continued over the following several days, growing more elaborate. For example, on May 15th, user @annetdonahue^[3] posted an Interview Possum parody, gaining over 170 retweets and 3,300 likes (shown below, left). On May 18th, user @MaggieMayFish^[4] posted an If You're In Line, Stay In Line parody, gaining over 1,400 retweets and 22,000 likes (shown below, right).
