Censopapa is one of the best known and esteemed polish memes. It was firstly introduced on 8th of April 2009 on one of Polish imageboards originally with an intention to enrage polish internet users, as pope John Paul II is one of the most respected figures in Poland. Censopapa refers to pictures, videos and animations including, usually badly, photoshopped pope's face but also John Paul's apperance in tremendous amount of copypastas, often described as an evil being guilty of murder, rape, sodome and war crimes. For a few years with a numerous amount of pictures and youtube circulating videos it has served its purpose, but in the latter years it has lost its power, as more and more youngsters, unaware of imageboard culture, would use papal pictures for their own purpose finding them funny. This led to a major breakdown between polish anonymous – should popes still be posted as they are integral part of chan culture or should it be forsaken as a result of its popularity in mainstream and scant butthurt potential? Anyhow, new censopapas are still being produced and it does not look like it is going to disappear in the near future..
