Drinking Milo Ice, often known as Milo Ais, refers to a viral video of a Malaysian man who wants to drink a Milo with ice, but gets distracted by a cat and spills the drink. The clip led to remixes and parodies on southeast Asian social media.

Origin

On July 29th, 2019, Facebook[1] user Eris Riswandi uploaded the earliest-known video of a man preparing to eat and pouring a Milo ice drink, when a cat appears trying to climb the table where he's preparing the food, causing his drink to spill. The man screams "Memang babi kau ni" (Eng. What a pig) and adds a Crying Laughing emoji emoji. The video received more than 3,400 reactions and 6,400 shares in four years (shown below, left). One hour later, Facebook[2] user اسمء عين uploaded a clean version of it. The video received more than 45,000 reactions and 115,000 shares in four years (shown below, right).

Spread

Roughly a year after the video was first posted, it began growing popular as a meme on social media. For example, on June 28th, 2020, YouTuber Capza uploaded to their Facebook[3] page an edit of the video that received more than 1,700 reactions and 2,600 shares in three years (shown below, left). On June 18th, 2021, YouTuber Ya Begitulah uploaded an edit to both Facebook[4] and YouTube[5]. It received more than 1,600 reactions, 438 shares, and 1.6 million views, respectively (shown below, right).

On August 8th, 2020, YouTube[6] user Dyka 73 uploaded a YouTube Poop version of it. The video received 20,000 views (shown below, left). On October 12th, 2020, YouTube[7] user Fandy Adnan uploaded a Pokemon Battles parody that received more than 175,000 views (shown below, right).
