About

Doomsday is the supposed day that the Earth will be destroyed. Many times in our history have people predicted certain ends of the world, people have anticipated them, and they have passed uneventfully.

Origin

Nobody is certain the oldest predicted doomsday, but the oldest predicted doomsday on record was for 634 BC (Thompson, Damian (2011). The End of Time: Faith and Fear in the Shadow of the Millennium.) Doomsday predictions have persisted since.

Modern Era

In the past 20 years, many doomsdays have past, including July 1999 by Nostradamus (The 100 Most Entertaining Predictions about the 21st Century By William Ray, Lynette Ray. 2000. Page 89), Jan 1, 2000 by Issac Newton (Schwartz, Hillel (1995), Century's End: An orientation manual toward the Year 2000, New York: Doubleday), the popular 6/6/06 scare, the infamous LHC scare, and the 2012 phenomenon, culminating in the film 2012
