Hazelwood East High School Fight Video, also known as Hazelwood East High School Brawl and Kaylee Gain Fight Video, refers to a fight between teenage students at Hazelwood East High School in Spanish Lake, Missouri (part of St. Louis County), which led to a girl in critical condition after the altercation, later identified as Kaylee Gain. The incident occurred in March 2024 as the police reported to an incident and found a girl with a severe head injury and took her to the hospital, arresting a 15-year-old girl charged with assault in the incident. Videos of the fight have since been shared by thousands of people online, with some labeling the incident as a "Black on White fight," even though there is no clear reason for what led to the brawl.

On March 10th, 2024, a now-viral video recorded by an unknown student at Hazelwood East High School in Spanish Lake, Missouri went viral online showing a girl getting thrown to the ground and punched in the head by another teen girl, who then slammed her head onto a concrete sidewalk multiple times.[1] That day, the X[2] page @IrishAmerican27 was one of the earliest users to share the video (shown below), assuming it was a "Black on White fight" incident. The post amassed over 170,000 views and 1,000 likes in five days.
According to a Fox 2 St. Louis video[3] posted on YouTube, the incident occurred on March 8th, 2024, before 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Norgate Drive and Claudine Drive in Spanish Lake, Missouri. The news report (shown below) also mentions that one teen remained hospitalized and another was being held in St. Louis County Family Court, which amassed more than 22,000 views and 131 likes in five days.
Developments
On March 14th, 2024, news reports identified the hospitalized 15-year-old girl as Kaylee Gain, stating she suffered major brain bleeding and swelling.[4] The girl’s family has started a GoFundMe[5] campaign to pay for her medical needs and wrote that they were “shattered when their only daughter was assaulted outside of a North County high school” (shown below).
Online Reactions
Online, the teen's fight video was widely shared on social media, especially by conservative accounts speculating about unfounded racial reasons for the brawl. For instance, on March 10th, 2024, X[6] user @AnthonyCumia posted an image showing the demographics at Hazelwood East High School, stating "The White girl's parents should be arrested just for sending her there." The post (shown below) amassed over 13,000 likes and 1,500 retweets in five days.
March 14th, X[7] user @tariqnasheed replied to a tweet showing Kaylee with her purported boyfriend, saying, "The white supremacists after realizing the Kaylee girl was fighting over her BLACK boyfriend." The post (shown below) amassed more than 2,600 likes and 700 retweets in a day.
