Overview
SnoopyWeekly Twitter / X Drama refers to the October 2024 infighting among Twitter / X accounts dedicated to posting content related to the Peanuts character Snoopy after one such account, @snoopyweekly, endorsed Donald Trump over Kamala Harris for President in the 2024 United States Presidential Election. The controversial post led other Snoopy-oriented accounts to disavow @snoopyweekly and champion other Snoopy-based accounts in its stead. Those outside of the community found it amusing that the Snoopy community on Twitter was having such intense drama, adding further discourse.
Background
On October 5th, 2024, the Twitter account @SnoopyWeekly, mostly dedicated to posting Snoopy-related content, posted an endorsement of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, along with a picture of Snoopy shaking hands with an artistic rendering of Trump as a Peanuts character.
The tweet was deleted but was screenshotted and reposted by Twitter user @laurieslaurence[1] on October 6th, gaining over 2,000 retweets and 16,000 likes in three days.
Developments
The tweet led to backlash against @SnoopyWeekly from fans of Snoopy content on Twitter. For example, on October 6th, 2024, Twitter user @gir1genius,[6] a Snoopy fan account that has over 122,000 followers on Twitter, tweeted "FUCK SNOOPYWEEKLY," gaining over 500 retweets and 6,600 likes in three days.
They also championed alternative Snoopy-related accounts on the app. In particular, an October 7th, 2024, tweet by @JamieLoftusHELP[2] drew attention. The tweet read, "for those outside the snoopy community, snoopyweekly recently made an aggressive fascistic push. dailysnoopys is the way to go" and gained over 680 retweets and 10,000 likes in two days.
The same day, Twitter user @CurtisRemarc[3] poked fun at the tweet by reposting it with the caption, "For those outside the Snoopy community," gaining over 2,400 retweets and 49,000 likes in the same timeframe.
The drama notably led to coverage from Rolling Stone[4] and the San Francisco Chronicle[5] as it continued spreading online in early October 2024.
