Overview

Steve King's Rape and Incest Abortion Comments refers to the controversy regarding a series comments U.S. Congressman Steve King made in regards to abortions in the case of rape and incest. He said, "What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?" The comments sparked a national outrage against King, who many called to resign.

Background

On August 14th, 2019, United States Representative Steve King (R-Iowa) delivered a speech at the Westside Conservative Club in Urbandale, Iowa.[1] During his speech, he commented on his support for a ban on abortion in the case of rape and incest (video below). He said:

What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?

Considering all the wars and all the rapes and pillages taken place and whatever happened to culture after society? I know I can't certify that I'm not a part of a product of that.
