Overview

Venice Beach Brawl or Venice Beach Fight refers to an incident at Venice Beach in Los Angeles, California, in which two women fought, one of them naked, as they wildly swung spiked clubs or bats at one another. The altercation occurred in late February 2024 and several videos of the events went viral on social media, inspiring a series of memes and debates about the circumstances of the fight and why one of them was naked.

On February 28th, 2024, TMZ^[1] reported that a naked woman went on a mini rampage at Venice Beach in LA and "another lady was equally ready to throw down, with medieval weapons no less," TMZ explained. Footage of the brawl was uploaded to X^[2] by user @CollinRugg, who said "the incident went on for 6 minutes without any sort of police response." The video (shown below) amassed over 12 million plays and 16,000 likes in a day.

According to a video posted by NBCLA on YouTube^[3], neither women nor any witnesses have reported the incident to the police. The video (shown below) amassed more than 19,000 views and 480 likes in a few hours since it was uploaded on February 29th, 2024.

Online Reactions

Online, the brawl was the subject of viral tweets on X / Twitter joking about the unexpected medieval-like weapons used, as well as the bizarreness of the naked woman. For instance, X^[4] user @therealZNO posted a still image of the women fighting on February 28th, 2024, paired with the caption, "If Game of Thrones took place in 2024:" The post (shown below, left) received roughly 600 likes and 14 retweets in a few hours.

On the same day, X^[5] user @DYK_Daily posted a still image of a man recording the fight up close the whole time (shown below, right), amassing roughly 8,200 views in a few hours.
