About
The Gerard Smirk is a reaction image that can also be used as an image macro, usually accompanied by feelings of awkwardness or suggestive thoughts.

Origin
In 2010, Warner Music Germany released a series of interviews from the rock band My Chemical Romance. In part one of those videos is where the reaction image is seen, Gerard Way, lead singer of the band, looking at the camera with a sidewards view and giving a small smile. In 2019, a few friends on a Discord server saw a screencap from said interview and started to use it as a reaction image and captioned it with random things, most of which were either suggestive in nature or to cure an awkward break in a conversation.
